True Blood Gets Ready For Season 2

11-4.jpg

True Blood is riding high right now with the announcement at Thursday’s Golden Globe nominations that True Blood was up for awards. Anna Paquin and the series itself were both nominated. Season two will not hit until May, but we do have some information out about it now.

Season 2 will see the following:

  • Jason will continue on with the Fellowship Of The Sun.
  • There will be new romances for Tara, Jason and Sara while Bill and Sookie deal with the changes of their own romance after Eric drops off Bill’s vampire child.
  • There is also a new creature that pops up in town. Not another vampire, shape shifter or werewolf. What is it?

Season one hits DVD on May 12. The series will premiere not too long after. What I want to know is what happened to Lafayette? Is he dead?

A True Blood Fix: Season 2 Will Start …

12-2.jpg

Yes, this will be our first Sunday without True Blood to entertain us. That series rushed onto the scene, and it did become a fan favorite. There is good news though. I just read that the series will be back, and we don’t have all that much long to wait for season two. I had thought that series would return in September to keep up with the schedule it had this year, but we now know True Blood will be back in May, and this is not long after the first season hits DVD.

That is set for release on May 12, and the series will premiere its second season not long after that. I cannot wait for this series to come back. I really do need to read the books, but now I know when to have them read by! And for those needing more of a fix, here is the theme song for you below.

True Blood Season 1 Finale

12-1.jpg

TV.com: You’ll Be the Death of Me - Sookie finds a connection to the murders in Bon Temps. Jason finds a new goal in life. Bill tempts fate, continuing to find a way to rescue Sookie from harm. Sam is troubled by a familiar face from his past.

-

Recap & Review: Well, here we are. The final episode of the first season of True Blood. When I first watched the series, I went in with no expectations. It was simply a new show airing, and I had a free hour to check it out. I hadn’t read the books, and I hadn’t much about the series until the weekend it premiered. I reviewed the premiere, but I really didn’t plan to cover the whole season. My plans changed because by the end of the first episode I was hooked. I wasn’t the only one.

HBO saw something explode with this series about a small town in Louisiana where vampires live in a world that vampires are accepted as a part of every day life. By the end of the second episode, HBO knew this series was a keeper. A second season was ordered. This series came from the same man behind Six Feet Under, and with that highly popular series under his belt, he brought in his own fans, and even more. Helped by Twilight and the vampire myth, True Blood has become a huge hit, and there is talk that it even has a bigger first season than long time HBO staple, The Sopranos.

Last week, Sookie went in search of the killer, and she knows she is close to finding him. However, another body turned up dead with Jason the only possible suspect. He even suspected himself, so he turned himself in and confessed. However, Sookie knows he isn’t the one that did it, and we know now who the killer is. A man named Drew Matthews, who just happens Rene, Jason’s best friend. He killed every woman Jason said had sex with a vampire. However, no one in town knows this.

It doesn’t take long for them to find out though. Once Sookie finds out Jason in jail, she goes to him and then she goes to the bar to work. Not the best idea because of the talk of the town in Jason’s arrest. She soon leaves and decides to head home. When her car doesn’t start, Rene is nice enough to offer her a ride. However, his kindness isn’t that at all. In her kitchen, she reads his mind and she knows he killed her grandmother. She wasn’t meant to die. Sookie tries to get the gun and shoot him, but he has the bullets. She hits him with it instead, and run out. He chases her through the cemetery, and Bill wakes up while this is happening.

He braves the sun to help her, but it isn’t he that saves her. Sam recognizes the killer’s scent, and he rushes to Sookie’s. He turns into a dog and makes it there in time. However, Rene starts to beat him. While this is happening, Sam turns back to human, and this sets Rene off even more. However, Sookie wakes up and she grabs a shovel. In a quick moment, she kills him. The killer is no more. Sookie is black and blue, and Bill is burned to a crisp. Sam buries him, and we think Bill is dead.

Jason is released, and Tara even shows up. Not sure how she managed to pop back up out of nowhere. She has been staying with Marianne after the woman took her from jail. That whole deal is too good to be true. There is something about her, and Sam even knows her somehow. She also knows Sam is a dog. Sookie is now safe though, and she feels Bill is dead. However, he is not. He feeds on Lafayette, and he returns to her home. They finally reunite, and two weeks later it becomes legal for vampires and humans to marry - something out of the headlines with the current debate over the rights of gays and lesbians to marry. As the episode ends, Tara, Sookie and Andy make a shocking discovery. However, we won’t know what this is until the series returns next summer!

This series has become one of my new favorites. Great setting, characters, plot and dialogue. There were enough twists and turns to keep me tuning in week after week. I had never read the books, but now I am looking forward to doing that during the show’s hiatus. Sookie and Bill’s story is a main driving focus of the show, but I don’t think we can count Sam out yet. This threesome will have more in store for us I’m sure. What did you think of the season finale of True Blood and this series in general? Will you be going through withdrawals until the series returns in the summer months? I’ll cover any news developments on this series until it returns.

Recap & Review:  With next week’s episode, this first season of True Blood will come to an end. Things have been slowly building to this point with several story lines, and next week every thing will come to some type of conclusion until the series returns in 2009. Yes, this series will be returning! Last week, we saw Bill deal with the consequences of him killing another of his kind, while he left Sookie in Sam’s care. During their time together, she finds out he is a shape shifter, and the killer comes after her.

This week, a lot happens. Let’s first start with Bill. He needs to finish the process of turning Jessica. This involves the two of them sleeping in the ground. Once she is awake again, she immediately starts acting unlike he suspected she would. She wants to kill. She wants to hunt. He tries to control her, but he can’t. She won’t listen to him. He takes her to meet Eric, and he asks the other vampire to help him control and teach her. This comes at a cost to him, but he still wants Eric to do it. He wants to return to Sookie.

Sookie is spending her time trying to find who the killer is. Sam never leaves her side, and he helps her try to figure out what she has seen in her visions. She is dealing with her knowledge that he is a shape shifted, and the two of them become closer during their time together. In her vision, she sees a young girl murdered. The young girl is a waitress from another town, and her brother disappeared after her death. Her brother is named Drew Marshall, and Sookie convinces the deputy at the other town to send a picture to the sheriff of her town. When we see the picture of Drew, he is someone quite familiar to us all! Jason’s best friend.

Jason is having his own issues though. He has no idea what to do with Amy. Last week, she killed Eddie, and that was the last thing Jason wanted to do. He now wants them both to stop taking V, and to be happy together. If she isn’t willing, he will end their relationship. However, something happens when they fall asleep. They go somewhere in their dreams, and when Jason wakes up Amy is dead. He thinks he killed her, and he turns himself in. He confesses to all the killings, but we know he isn’t the killer. The cops think they have their man though.

As for Tara, she has also been arrested after the accident. She was obviously drunk, and her own mother won’t even bail her out. Having nowhere to go, she takes the help of a woman that comes to bail her out. A type of social worker. We do recognize her though. This is the woman saw when Tara ran off the road. Just fully dressed and clean. No hog either! Tara truly feels she has nowhere to go, but she doesn’t know both Sookie and Sam have been trying to reach other.

Sam has no problem acting on his feelings when it comes to Sookie though. The two kiss just moments before Bill arrives at Sookie’s. When he sees Sam touching her, he loses control. The two fight, but Sookie eventually stops them. In a surprising move, Sookie revokes Bill’s permission to enter her home. He must leave. Lastly, a minor story line deals with Lafayette and one of his connections. When the politician speaks out against both vampires and gays, he is upset and he shows up at one of the politician’s events.

I know I will be sad when this series ends its season next week. It has become the best part of my Sunday night, and I know I am not alone. I’ve even picked up the books to read, and I am looking forward to diving into those once the season comes to an end. This series is unlike many of television, and it offers another mythology when it comes to vampires. What did you think of this week’s episode True Blood?

True Blood Episode 1-10

trueblood_ep10_a_378.jpg

TV.com: I Don’t Wanna Know - Sam divulges a secret to Sookie. Tara finally see’s Miss Jeanette’s true intentions. Sookie has visions that disturb her at an engagement party. Jason and Amy wonder what to do with Eddie. Bill is faced with a harsh punishment but the magister has other ideas involving a human Jessica.

-

Recap & Review: True Blood has quickly become one of the most popular series on television, and the season is quickly. After tonight, there will only been two more episodes left of this first season to air. Last week, we had an explosive episode, but not as explosive as promised. The previews hinted at Sookie being turned into a vampire, but that didn’t happen. Sookie did learn that truth about Sam,. and it seems Bill has ended up in some hot water himself after killing another vampire in order to protect Sookie. This week’s episode picks up from there.

Sookie finds out the truth about Sam. This is something we picked up on from earlier episodes. He is a shifter, and he shifts into the shape of a dog, similar to a dog that spends time outside his bar. He tells her he can also shift into other animals, but he prefers to shift into a dog. He shifts right before her eyes, and she has the obvious reaction of shock. She is also hurt that he never told her about his shifting abilities.

He didn’t trust her enough to tell her what he could do, and he has known her for a long time. She is also upset about him and Tara. What probably upsets her the most is the fact that he tried to sleep with her without telling her what he really was. She holds a grudge towards for most of the episode, and this grudge is only forgotten when the killer comes to the bar and tries to attack her the night of the engagement party. Sam is the one to find her and stay with her.

As for Bill, he is still in trouble for killing the vampire, one of his own, for a human. He needs to go in front of a judge of some sort, and this judge has an evil streak in him. We watch as he has another vampire defanged. He has something else in mind for Bill though. He wants Bill to turn a human into a vampire. This is something Bill is not willing to do, but he is forced to do it. Her really has no choice. You can see how much he struggles with this punishment, but if he doesn’t follow through something far worse can happen.

Tara has her own problems this episode as well. She goes through with the exorcism, and she believes she is free of the demon inside her. That is until the next morning when she finds the witch that performed the spell on her at the local drug store. It was all a scam for money. Something that bothers her, but she doesn’t tell her mother. She doesn’t want to ruin what good has come from it when it comes to her mother. She doesn’t take the news too well herself though. She ends up drinking and showing up at the party drunk. After she fights with Sam, she leaves the party, and she ends up having an accident and driving off the road.

Meanwhile, Jason and Amy still have their own vampire to deal with. Amy finds out that Jason has been spending time with the vampire, and she doesn’t like this at all. By the end of the episode, we see Eddie the vampire dead after Lafayette confronts Jason on his source having gone missing. All in all, this was a good episode for the series. It is the first episode where Sookie and Bill have no contact. Sam and Sookie do appear to get closer as the episode progresses. Now that she knows the truth we have to wonder if this will change things for the two of them. To find out what’s on tv daily, check here .

True Blood Episode 1-9

663396_tb_109_pg_1312.jpg

Recap & Review: Plaisir d’Amour - This is the first time I have not found a TV.com synopsis for an episode, so we’re flying blind. The previews for this week’s episode have certainly left us to wonder. What will happen to Sookie? Will Bill turn her into a vampire like him, and will they be lovers forever? She is attacked by another vampire at the end of last week’s episode, so anything can happen. That is one of my favorite parts of this series. The fact that anything can happen. I’m not a reader of the books, so I don’t know the background and history of this series. I’ve come in with a fresh mind, and I’m sure I’m not the only viewer that has done that. Coming in like this, I have still become hooked by this series. I know I’m not the only one either. This one series has become one of the most popular on HBO in just a few weeks.

This week’s episode opens right where last week closed off, and it was a bit quick to me. Bill stacks the vampire that attacked Sookie, and he showers the woman in his blood.  Sookie is practically covered from head to toe in the vampire’s blood before he falls to the floor dead. Eric telling someone they need to be turned wasn’t in regard to Sookie. A wicked trick, and a bit of a let down after how the promo for the episode played out. Bill and Eric talk, and Eric wants Sookie, but in this conversation we learn something very interesting. Bill is in love with Sookie. He won’t admit it, but we can tell by the way he looks it is true.

Sookie is still trying to clean up when Pam comes to her and gives her clothes to change into. We also see a newly glamed Ginger. All is well though, and Bill takes her home. All is not well there though as they find blood covered walls when they arrive. Someone has come in and killed Sookie’s cat while they were gone. Bill stays with her, and every time she closes her eyes she sees her grandmother Adele’s body. The two share a few quiet moments before she tells Bill she loves him. After killing the vampire to protect Sookie, this does put Bill in a position of trouble. He needs to face what he did. Eric is taking him to do that.

As for Jason, he and Amy have kidnapped Lafayette’s vampire. Jason had no idea that was Amy’s plan, and he is freaking out only like he can. He finally is talked into drinking a bit of blood Amy gives him, and he is immediately calm. These two once again trip into la la land. While they continue to talk, Amy finally confesses she loves Jason, and in a surprising moment Jason does the same. The V totally changes Jason. He goes on with his life, and so does Amy. Amy and Sookie have a conversation together, and Jason bonds with the vampire back at the house.  However, the vampire ruins it by telling Jason that Amy is a psychopath.

Tara also has a lot of issues this week. She is still thinking about getting exorcised, and she has the budding romance with Sam to contend with. She knows she can’t handle a relationship. At work, she finds money from Sam. He is willing to help her with her exorcism. She doesn’t seemed too thrilled about that. He finally talks her into taking the money, and these two might be able to make a go of it.

Sookie does catch these two in the middle of making out, and this causes her to run out of the bar. She leave Amy to finish off the rest of her shift, and she rushes off to Bill’s house. When Amy tells Sam where Sookie went, Sam goes after her, and this is where things interesting. The dog ends up with Sookie asleep in bed, but when she wakes up she finds a naked Sam on her bed. I guess we now know the dog is out of the bag.

This week’s episode began as a bit of a let down. The previews from last week suggested something more would happen in the opening moments. The episode did pick up though, and it had plenty of moments of its own, especially the final one. It also looked like Bill knew Sam was a shape shifter. He made it sound that way, and this is something that was being alluded to most of the last few episodes. You have to wonder what Sookie will think of this. True Blood Episode 1-8

paquin-moyer-set.jpg

TV.com: The Fourth Man in the Fire - Sookie braces herself for more tragedy. Tara thinks of a new approach with dealing with her anger by adopting a similar therapy to Lettie Mae. Amy charms a crowd showing a darker side to Jason after the V juice runs out. Bill persuades Sookie into helping Eric using her gifts to catch criminals.

-

Recap & Review: Last week, we saw Bill leave with the rest of the local vampires, and they were killed by some of the men in Bon Temps. A fourth body is found with them, and Sookie needs to know if that body belongs to Bill. That is where we begin this week. She then returns home to clean up another mess. Across town, Tara is waking up to a new day. Her mother is a new woman. No more drinking. This is wonderful for her. Jason is still in bed with his new friend as well after a night of V blood and sex. At least that is what he thinks. She tells him otherwise. He then tells her about what happened to his parents too.

Sookie and Tara end up fighting once Tara goes to tell Sookie about her mother. Sookie is upset, and this only makes things worse. She throws Tara out, and it looks like these two are about to end their friendship. Sookie thinks Tara only thinks about herself. Sam has his own issues when a friend confronts him about the fact he saw him running naked through the woods. Sam denies that of course. That night a storm a hits, and Sookie waits for Bill to show. When he doesn’t she assumes the worse. She thinks he is dead, and she goes to put flowers on his grave.

He isn’t dead though. She is surprised by him when he crawls out of a grave, and the two have quite the sexual encounter without waiting any. He then once again feeds on her. She arrives at work late in great spirits, but all is well there. Jason’s new girlfriend is now working at Merlotte’s. Sookie tries to warn her about Jason, but the new girl doesn’t listen to Sookie. Instead, she stands up for Jason. Sookie offers to babysit for her friend at the bar. Bill helps her babysit while she is off being proposed too.

The next day, Sam has to fend off more questions about his naked run. He and Tara are moving forward in their relationship, but with them it is one step forward and two steps back. When Sam finds Sookie taking B-12 vitamins, he is angry. He really doesn’t like the fact Sookie is dating Bill now. As for vampire blood, Jason’s girlfriend needs more V, and he is going to help her get it. They go to Lafayette’s while he is out on a date with his vampire. This is the source of his vampire blood.

As for Bill, he takes Sookie to the vampire bar after Eric asks for Sookie’s help. He wants her to read the mind of a man to help him find out who stole money from the vampire bar. If he didn’t do it, someone else did. Eric brings in one after another until Sookie finds the man. It is Eric’s bartender. Jason and his new girlfriend go to vampire’s house after Lafayette leaves. She kidnaps the vampiere and has Jason help. This is not what he had planned.

There are only four episodes left in this season, and this series only gets stranger and stranger. Sex from the grave, kidnapping vampires, vampire theives, and a total 180 in Bill from last episode. He and Sookie are more of a couple now. It seems the death of the other vampires has freed him in some way. Next week, we’ll have to see if Sookie is turned vampire. What did you think of tonight’s episode? For more of what’s hot on TV, check here.

True Blood Episode 1-7

trueblood7.jpg

TV.com: Burning House of Love - Bill gets into action after he learns of Sookies painful past. Jason makes a connection with Amy in Fangtasia searching for V juice. A trio of mysterious red necks come for their old friend Bill seeking justice against vampires.

-

Recap & Review: True Blood has been a surprise hit for HBO. Fans needing a little vampire fix have latched on to this series following the exit of Moonlight over on CBS. The two series can’t be anymore different though. True Blood takes on the darker aspects of vampirism, and there are no holds bard. Sex, violence, and dialogue are all out there and in your face as a viewer. Last week, we saw the death of Sookie’s grandmother, and this sent her straight into the arms of Bill. They make love and he bites her for the first time. This opens up things to question. What will happen to this couple now?

This week’s episode opens up right where last week ended off. We see Bill mid-bite just before he takes Sookie’s virginity. This happened fast because in past episodes, Sookie was playing the innocent and never been touched card up quite a bit. We then see Bill and Sookie share a bath together, and he fills her in on some of the myths about vampires. She then shares memories of her child, and why she was so afraid of intimacy before this. In her childhood, an uncle abused her. It appears to be the same man that showed up at her grandmother’s funeral, and that is why she was so upset he was there. Bill ends up showing her where he sleeps before he goes to sleep for his day.

As for Jason, he needs more vampire blood. He goes to Lafayette for his next V fix, but Lafayette will not give him any. His cousin Tara is still dealing with her mother. Last week, she blamed her alcoholism on a demon. Tara still doesn’t believe her. Tara then goes to see Sam, and these two argue. He isn’t happy with the way she left him at the hotel. Tara then says she might be unboyfriendable. She isn’t good with relationships. While she is with Sam, she receives a call from someone. Apparently, her mother went for a loan to get an exorcism. Tara comes to the bank to find her, and then takes her home. She decides to help her mother with the exorcism.

Sookie returns home in the morning hours to find Jason going through things in the house. It looks like he is trying to find things to steal. Jason figures out she had sex with Bill, and the two fight. She then kicks him out of the house, and stops him from taking anything. That night, she works at the bar, and she is in a fantastic mood. This makes people question things, but she is trying to hide the fact she was with Bill. She even has a scarf wrapped around her neck to hide the bite marks. However, she tells the other waitress, and the secret is soon out at the bar. Sam even rips the scarf off of her neck.

Meanwhile, Bill is fighting for Sookie’s honor as he goes to find her uncle and kills him. Sookie does seem to have changed. Bill’s fellows show up at the bar, and they cause trouble. They are about to kill Sam when Bill shows up. He is talked into leaving with the group, and he tells Sookie he should be with his own kind. You can tell this hits Sookie hard, especially with what just happened between them the night before. The people at the bar are all riled up, and they want to go after the vampires. Sookie tries to tell Sam to do something, but she is the only one that thinks something needs to be done.

All of this is happening while Jason heads to the vampire bar for his V fix. After a discussion with the woman at the door, she finally let him in. She remembers Sookie from her previous visit. Jason tries to get some vampire blood, but he is not able to get it from anyone there. He does find some though with another woman. The two head to his place while Tara is with her mother to get the exorcism. The woman goes through with it, and something does happen there. Demon or not, her mother does change. After, she is ride of the demon the woman that performed the exorcism then goes to work on Tara to do one on her. Tara wants no part of it.

Jason finally gets his V, and he has sex with the woman that gives it him. She is seriously one huge hippie. As for Sookie, she goes to look for Bill at his home, but he isn’t there when she arrives. He didn’t even sleep there. The next morning, some of the men from the bar decide to try to bomb the home of the other vampires. They aren’t the only people out that morning. Two fisherman, one the detective at the city, sees Sam running naked through the woods.  The episode this week ends with four coffin’s being taken out of the home. Sookie wants to know if Bill was insise. We’ll have to wait until next week to find out.

This series keeps getting better and better with each week that passes. Sookie and Bill joined as one, but there is still something more going on here. Something we don’t know. We still have a lot to learn about these characters, and with only a few more episodes left this season we don’t have much time to find it out. Good news is though that True Blood will definitely be back next summer. What did you think of this week’s episode? Remember to find out what’s hot on TV before it airs, check out here .

True Blood Episode 1-6

trueblood1-6.jpg

TV.COM: Cold Ground - Sookie seeks solace from her friends after facing a tragedy. Jason suffers from withdrawal symptoms. Sam and Tara share a bond in searching a common goal.

-

Recap & Review: Last week, everyone was shocked to see Sookie’s grandmother be the next murder victim to pop up. As someone who hasn’t read the book series this program is based on, I really didn’t see that one coming at all. Now Sookie and Jason have to deal with the loss of their grandmother. Sookie is the one to find her grandmother. She takes it quite hard, and Bill soon arrives on scene. The next to arrive is Sam. He came in through an open door he tells everyone.  Sookie needs to deal with all the voices in her head talking about her grandmother. Sam tries to apologize to Sookie when she leaves the house, but she isn’t too receptive to it. She sends Sam to look for Bill, and these two end up in a discussion. Sam tells Bill to stay away from Sookie.

The police and coroner investigate the old woman’s death, and she really tried to fight her killer. She was unsuccessful at it. Bill comes in, and the cops question him about Adele and his relationship with her. Bill tells the police he thinks the killer is after women who associated with vampires. He also says Adele was probably not the intended victim. By the looks of things, Bill thinks Sookie was the one they were after. Everyone tries to get Sookie to sleep elsewhere, but she is against it. She goes immediately to work cleaning up the home. Soon after this, we jump to the wake for Adele. All the voices Sookie hears makes this event even more painful for  her. When one of those in attendance goes for a pie Adele made, Sookie lashes out. Tara and LaFayette try to help her deal with it as best they can.

We soon see Jason hasn’t heard about his grandmother’s murder. He is still hyped up on V. However, he soon goes through withdrawals.  Tara and Sookie continue to talk until Jason comes up pissed off. He blames Sookie for their grandmother’s death, and he even hits her. Tara throws him out, and Sookie ends up taking a valium that Lafayette left her with. The cops are looking at Jason as a suspect. This causes Jason to push the detective. Lafayette covers for him. After that, Tara throws out everyone that came to Adele’s house. While in her bedroom, someone comes in and starts to choke Sookie. She sends a message to Bill, but he needs to wait until darkness falls to check on her. He finds her fine. Bill stays outside on his own guard, and Sam’s dog shows up as well.

At the funeral, Adele’s brother shows up, and Sookie isn’t thrilled to see him. She stands to speak, but while she is doing that everyone drives Sookie mad. She ends up running off just before Tara’s mother stands up to say a few words about Adele. She shocks everyone with what she says. Jason chases after Sookie, and he tries to make amends, but it doesn’t go well at all. Tara and her mother share a moment. The daughter is angry because her mother stood up to talk for Adele, when in the past she spoke against her. Tara’s mom is trying to change it appears. She says she has a demon inside her. This makes Tara laugh.

Sookie ends up on a walk that leads her to Bill’s human grave. Back at her grandmother’s grave, she watches Adele go into the ground while talking to Sam. He escorts her home, but she doesn’t want his company. Inside, Sookie eats her grandmother’s last pie. This puts Sam and Tara back together. She takes him to her apartment. These two end up getting closer, possibly even become a couple. That night, Sookie ends up running to Bill’s home, and the two appear to make love for the first time. He also feeds on her.

This series keeps getting better and better. We see how all the lives of those in the two are connected to Sookie, especially with her ability to read everyone’s mind. Her relationship with Bill though took one giant leap forward, all pushed by her grandmother’s death.  I really do enjoy this series though. It is different than any other series on television. Tara and Sam are also an interesting development here. Not sure I saw that going so fast. What did you think of the episode?

Review: True Blood Episode 1-5

663392_00162_jj_ep_105.jpg

TV.com: Sparks Fly Out - At the Descendants of the Glorious Dead meeting Bill is invited to talk about his life as a Confederate Soldier. Bill then has a question and answer session when one member of the DGD shows Bill a tintype of the Compton family. Sam, Sookie, Tara and Jason are also present at the Descendants of the Glorious Dead meeting. Sookie deals with a loss of someone close to her. Jason notices Tara while he is high on vampire blood.

-

Review: Last week, Sookie had Bill take her to a vampire bar to try and clear her brother’s name of the two murder cases they are trying to peg him with. Trouble happens though as cops show up on scene both at the bar and on the way home. This week, opens up with Sookie and Bill outside her home. The two once again fight. Their differences show up again and again in these episodes. Sookie likes safe. Bill is anything but safe. They appear to end their relationship.  Before the night is through, we see Tara go to see her cousin Lafayette about giving vampire blood to Jason. She is not too happy with him about that, especially after seeing Jason suffer at the emergency room.

The next morning, we see Sookie’s grandmother a buzz about Bill coming to her meeting. Her grandmother seems to want to have Sookie with Bill, but Sookie knows the two are too different. Lafayette goes to see Jason like he promised Tara, and he lets the cat out of the bag about Tara having feelings for him. This is what he does before he offers to show how good vampire blood could be. Lafayette promises to show Jason the proper way to use it.  At the bar that night, Sookie is talking to people about her and Bill. When Sam catches on that she is on the outs with the vampire, he decides to ask her out. She says yes. The cops question her about Jason and Tara next, and she lets on that it isn’t true. She does confront Tara though.

That night, Bill comes to speak about being a confederate soldier. Everyone goes. Sam escorts Sookie, and this is something Bill doesn’t seem to be too thrilled about. Jason shows up at the meeting, and he is high on vampire blood.  It takes vampire blood and the fact he is aware of how Tara feels about him for Jason to finally notice Tara. At the start of the meeting, Bill hangs up the flag that had been used to cover the cross. In his speech, he talks about how humans and vampires can work and live together. Bill also tells them about his experiences as a soldier. The mayor also has a picture of Bill as a human with his family. The photograph brings on an emotional moment for him.

Once the meeting his over, Jason heads back to the bar and talks to Tara. He tells her he finally knows it is her he wants. She doesn’t believe him though because she knows he is high on V. She tells him to come back when he isn’t on V. Sookie and Sam stay away from the bar, heading out on what looks like a date. She has more questions for him, and he doesn’t open up much. This is not new. Sam kisses Sookie, and the two argue. She won’t even let him take her home. Things at the bar heat up while they are gone. When a patron makes Lafayette mad. A comment about AIDS sets him off.

When Bill arrives at home, the sheriff and a detective arrive to question him. The sheriff thinks he is a suspect because of the sole fact that Bill is a vampire. They question him about his whereabouts on the nights the two women died, and he tells them if a vampire had killed the women, they would have both been drained of their blood. After the sheriff and detective leave, Bill goes back in his mind and remembers the night he was turned. He was only miles away from his home the night he was turned by a woman vampire that gave him shelter and food on his journey. The episode ends with a shocking development. Sookie’s grandmother has been killed.

This episode to me was probably the best of the season. We learned more about Bill, and we had some development with the other characters as well. I’m going into this without reading the book series this program is based on, so I’m coming in with no knowledge of anything.  Seeing Sookie’s grandmother the next to die was a shock to me. I really do enjoy this series, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
