So You Think You Can Go To Jail

alex-da-silva.jpg

Early this morning in North Hollywood, one of the judges and choreographers for So You Think You Can Dance was arrested on four very difficult charges to accept. This isn’t the first we’ve heard about these charges however. An investigation has been on-going for quite some time now. Alex Da Silva has been arrested on four counts of rape with four different young women.  There are eight charges in total for this man today. Four of rape, two accounts of assault, and two accounts of sexual penetration with a foreign object.

Da Silva is currently being held on $6.2 million in bail. All the victims of these crimes were those that he taught, and they were between the ages of 20-26 at the time the incidents are said to have occured. Something tells me we won’t see him walking the streets of North Hollywood or on So You Think You Can Dance any time soon. The series will return for a first ever fall season in the months to come. This story is still developing, and if any more happens I will have it here for you on Celebrity Today.

So You Think You Can Dance Da Silva Arrested

Last summer, I covered all of the action on So You Think You Can Dance. That series is set to return this summer for an all new season, but we have some behind the scenes action to talk about. One of the choreographers for the series has landed himself in some hot water. He was arrested recently on charges of sexual assault with four of his dance students.

He teaches at several Los Angeles dance studios, and now he is being held on $3.8 million bail. These accusations stem from reports as far back as 2003, but a recent accusation and review of previous accusations led to his arrest. One of the victims at the time was a minor.

So You Think You Can Dance will return to Fox in May, following the end of American Idol.

Jason Statham Likes To Dance

jason-statham-01-02.jpg

There is a new trailer out now for Jason Statham’s next movie, Transporter 3. This is the third look we have had of the film. There has also been an international trailer and a teaser trailer for the film set for release on November 26.

As for Statham himself, he has admitted his love for dance reality series So You Think You Can Dance. The series hits the Fox network each and every summer. He says he would never take part in one of the dance reality shows himself, so Dancing With The Stars better back off. He would consider dancing.

The actor happens to be a fan of musicals. A big tough guy like Stratham. Who could have guessed? Check out the trailer for Transporter 3 below.

So You Think You Can Dance: The End

dance_logo_photoshop.jpg

For the past two and a half months, So You Think You Can Dance has taken us on a roller coaster ride of emotions and dance. We’ve seem some amazing performances, some shocking eliminations and above all a very talented group of dancers. Each and every dancer that made the top twenty this year had the potential to make it to the end, but that honor has gone to four.  The four that have captured America’s attention. They might not be the four best dancers, but they have the entire package when it comes to dance technique and personality.

During this last show, we are taken back to see some of the best performances this season as chosen by the judges. We see all the dancers dance together again, and then the couples as well when the judges pick their favorite performances. Not only that, but we have all the choreographers in attendance. Six of them take the stage. We have a dance battle between two who are called the two best poppers, and special appearances by Criss Angel’s Believe and The Jonas Brothers. As with most finales, we have a lot of filler for two hours. We even see the judges perform as Mary and Nigel each take the stage for a performance.

Halfway through the show, we see one dancer eliminated. That dancer is Courtney. This was truly no surprise here. Courtney has a wonderful personality on the dance floor, but when it comes to skill and technique the other three have her beat. This put the competition between Katee, Joshua and Twitch. After some more performances, we see another dancer go. This one shocked me a bit, but we see Katee eliminated next. She is the best female in this competition, and she will go far. The $50,000 dollar prize she earned for being the top girl will help.

This leaves Joshua and Twitch as the final remaining dancers. Neither have much dance training professionally, but they have both stepped up to the challenge here this season. I enjoy them both. However, only one of them can win the title of America’s favorite dancer, the $250,000 prize, and the role in a upcoming movie as an added bonus, and this year that all goes to Joshua. He has stepped up time again, and he deserved to win. Do you think America made the right choice? Check below for a few list of songs used on the finale.

So You Think You Can Dance: The Last Dance

so_you_think_you_can_dance-show.jpg

This is what the whole season has come to. One final time for the four remaining dancers to show their stuff and win this season’s competition. We’ve had a few surprises this season. Jessica left with broken ribs, even though she had been picked for the top ten. We saw Will sent home early, and last week we saw the departure of Chelsie, probably one of the best female dancers.

This week, we learned that two of the dancers were rushed to the hospital during rehearsals due to dehydration. The identity of the two was not released then, but rehearsals were called off for the rest of the weekend in order to not give the two others an unfair advantage. We now know it was the two males left in the competition that ended up in the hospital over the weekend. I would have thought the girls. However, E! Online says it was the boys.  Now it all comes down to one night and the vote of the American viewing public.

Not only that, but earlier this week Nigel Lythgoe made his own shocking announcement. He would be leaving his position with American Idol and putting all his focus on So You Think You Can Dance, traveling throughout the world to help with other competitions in the rest of the world. In America, So You Think You Can Dance will return next summer. This week’s finale had same sex couples and some great performances. Now let’s talk about this week’s performances.

Courtney & Twitch:
  Church by T-Pain
These two open the show with fast hard hitting hip-hop routine. Courtney shocked me by still being in the competition at this point. She stood up in this performance, going totally into character and just dancing it perfectly on stage. Twitch did well as well. The judges all had good comments about the performance and the characterization by these two.

Katee & Joshua: Slow Dancing In A Burning Room by John Mayer
These two have been my favorite couple since the beginning. Tonight, they work with Wade Robson, who is one of the best choreographers on this series. I think second only to Mia Michaels. This routine takes us to the basic elements of emotion and passion. The judges have nothing but amazing comments for these two, and Nigel even goes so far to call them the best dancers they have had on the series.

Courtney & Katee: The Trolley Song by Rufus Wainwright
For the first time this season, we see same sex pairings. This is not unusual for So You Think You Can Dance. They have done this in previous season finales. These two hit the stage in a fun Broadway performance that I immediately loved. These ladies have such personality and talent.

Twitch & Joshua: Trepak Tchaikovsky’s The NutCracker Suite
And now it is the guy’s turn to partner up in a battle, and we see leaps and jumps to battle each other with some Russian street dancing. These two are just amazing to watch, and this routine displayed their talents. Twitch as a dancer sent Mary speechless. These two just demonstrated that not being trained doesn’t mean you can’t dance well. They are both amazing.

Katee & Twitch: Feeling Good by Michael Buble
These two took the stage with a foxtrot. Katee can do no wrong. She once again shines her, and the crowd went crazy for this routine. Katee is one of the best dancers we’ve seen on the series since season one. Twitch is good as well. They both receive great comments.

Courtney & Joshua: The Dirty Boogie by The Brian Setzer Orchestra
These two are the last couple of the night, and it might not have been the best routine of the night, but these two put in high energy into this jive routine. They were tired at the end, and that just was understandable. The judges enjoyed these two together, but Joshua just shines the most with Katee. Nigel was the only one to comment about how tired this performance was. These two danced a lot this week, so that is understandable.

Courtney: They Weren’t There by Missy Higgins
Twitch: It Was All In Your Mind by Wade Robson
Katee: Hide And Seek by Imogen Heap
Joshua: Not Just (Knee Deep) by Funkadelic
Group:  Hallelujah by The Vitamin String Quartet

We’ve been taken on one long journey this season. By the end of these four were exhausted, and it showed, especially in their final number. Courtney showed the most exhaustion, but all four of these days are strong, and it really is anyone’s game. They all performed well, and it is making it hard for me to choose one favorite. Katee has impressed me the most, even with her problems in Vegas week. That wasn’t ever about her as a dancer. Twitch and Joshua also stand out well here, and they are impressive because they both lack training. America will decide the one winner, and that will be announced later tonight. Who do you think will win?

So You Think You Can Go To The Hospital!

so_you_think_you_can_dance-show.jpgSo You Think You Can Dance is one of the hottest series this summer, and this week we have reached the finality. According to Reality Blurred two of the remaining four dancers were rushed to the hospital on Saturday during rehearsals. The names of the two were not released, but judge Mary Murphy did confirm that two dancers were hospitalized. Rehearsals were called off for the rest of Saturday and Sunday as well to keep things fair for all four contestants.

All four really want to win this, so they are all working extra hard to prepare for this week’s finale. However, we don’t want to see any of them sick either. In other news, So You Think You Can Dance will return next summer for its fifth season. Stay tuned later this week for my thoughts on this year’s finale and the winner of this season of So You Think You Can Dance.

So You Think You Can Dance: Into The Final Four

1234_so_you_think_you_can_468.jpgOver the past two months, we have seen a lot of amazing dancing with some talented dancers. We saw one go home last week before his time, but all the remaining dancers left in the competition stepped up their game and really showed America just what they can do. This week, it was hard for me to pick one favorite because everyone did so well. Mark even stood up, and by this point I think he is the weakest male. Last night we saw Katee and Joshua together again, and these two are just a force to reckon with when they dance together. I think with his performances Joshua definitely earned his spot in these season’s finale.

We do have some performances tonight - a group performance, two special guest performances, and each of the dancers perform another solo. The results are stretched out over the last half hour of the show. Katee and Joshua are both sent off to safety first. That leaves it between Courtney and Chelsie on the girl’s side, and Mark and Twitch on the guy’s side. These four are all great, and any of them could make it to the finale. They are all extremely talented, and I see them all going for. However, not all of them can make it to next week’s finale.

Who made it? This might be a shock to many. Last week, the boys shocked us with who was sent home. I expected this to be the end of the road for Courtney, but she makes it to the finale next week. We see Chelsie go home, which is shocking to me. As for the boys, we see Mark go home, which I think many were expecting with how well Joshua and Twitch have performed. On this side of the equation, we have the two least trained dancers left in the competition. I am surprised to see Courtney remain over Chelsie. I thought Chelsie had shown more over the last few weeks, but this is up to America.

Group: The Rose By Bette Midler
Courtney: Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy
Mark: Wind it Up by Gwen Stefani
Katee: Beautiful Disaster by Jon McLaughlin
Joshua: I Can Make You Dance by Zapp
Chelsie: The Girl’s Gone Wild By Travis Tritt
Twitch: Don’t Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin
Lil Demon: Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force
Lady GaGa Just Dance

What do you think of the final four left this season in So You Think You Can Dance? Did America make the right votes this week?

So You Think You Can Dance: The Top Six

dance_logo_photoshop.jpg

We are heading down the home stretch on this season of So You Think You Can Dance. We are left with our top six after a shocking elimination last week. I don’t think anyone saw Will going home before the finale. He is definitely one of the more talented dancers this season. I saw one writer say Will is this season’s Daughtry. We saw him go home during his season of American Idol early, and he still became popular in his own right. I see a bright future ahead for Will.

This week the top six performed for the final four slots. Instead of a two hour show, we have a one hour packed show of performances. Adam Shankman joins Mary and Nigel this week on the judging panel. The couples danced twice and then each dancer had a solo. Let’s talk about the performances.

Couples

Courtney & Mark: The Time Of My Life by David Cook | The Garden by Mirah

These two are the underdogs in this competition. They are talented, but they aren’t the best left. I truly thought we would see Mark go home last week, but he is still here. Out of the three left, he is the weakest male. Their first performance was a Viennese Waltz. The performance was beautiful and graceful. In fact, the judges have nothing but good things to say. Their second performance is a jazz unlike something either has done before. It was dark and dirty. Something I don’t relate to these two dancers. This performance just might have given these two a shot at the finale.

Katee & Joshua: All By Myself by Celine Dion | Filet by La Reve
These two were amazing early on in the competition together, and it is great to see these two together again. For their first performance, they had the most chemistry, power and passion I have seen all season. These two are a force together. In fact, I think with this performance, Joshua might have just knocked Twitch out of first place for me. Their second performance, a pasa doble, is even better and hotter than the first. Joshua has no classical training.  Yet, he is doing very well. Amazingly well. These two are magical together, and Mary even said this as well. Nigel said Joshua could steal the show if he continues like this, and I completely agree.

Chelsie and Twitch: Ahora Me Toca A Mi by Victor Manuelle | Control by The Vitamin String Quartet
If you followed well, you know who the last couple is this week. Twitch and Chelsie team up, and their first performance is a mambo. This one is totally out of Twitch’s zone, and it shows a bit. However, Chelsie just took control of things. The judges loved her. As for this couple’s second performance, it was fun but I’m not sure it was the best for this point in the competition. The other two couples shined more than the others. I love Twitch, but Joshua outdanced him this week.

Solos

Chelsie: When I Grow Up By The Pussycats Dolls
Twitch: Midas Touch by Midnight Star
Katee:  Can’t Stop by Maroon 5
Joshua: Like That by Memphis Bleek
Courtney: Rock Your Soul by Elisa
Mark: Bum Like You by Robyn

This week just blew everything away. All the dancers danced their best, and it is making it difficult for me to choose my favorites. I think Katee and Chelsie are the best girls left. The boys all stepped up this week, and I can’t pick two to move forward. Mark’s one performance really made him stand out, and Joshua stepped it up big time this week. What do you think America? Who had your vote?

So You Think You Can Dance Takes Us Down To Six

We’re heading closer to the finale for the summer dance craze, So You Think You Can Dance. This week’s eliminations are definitely a shocker. In fact, I can safely say I didn’t expect to see the one male go home this week. To even see him in the bottom two men was a shock. This week’s show just shows us that anyone can go home, but I don’t think America saw this one going home. You really do need to vote for the dancers you love.

On last night’s show, we start with the results after a group performance. Cat calls out the dancers one by one. We see who is safe and who is in danger of going home. Mark is shockingly safe. Comfort, his partner, is not. The first male in danger of elimination is Will. We thought if anyone was safe this week, it would be Will, especially after his performance with Courtney.

The other two in the bottom this week are Twitch and Courtney. Seeing Twitch there is another shock. Even if he is the least trained of the dancers, he is one of the best this season. Courtney has also been wonderful this season, but with everyone else in the competition someone needs to be in the bottom two, and Chelsie and Katee are the best females.

Once we know who is in the bottom, we have another performance, and then the bottom four dance their solos one more time before we have a performance by LL Cool J. Once that is done we see who is going home. This is where the shock comes in. On the male side of things, we have Twitch and Will. Twitch was emotional when his name was announced. I don’t think anyone expected him in the bottom two. Many were shocked to see Mark safe. He was shocked as well.

On the female side, we have Courtney and Comfort. Seeing Comfort there is no surprise. She should have gone home weeks ago, and she was picked to go home before. She was lucky to have another opportunity to stay. Jessica’s injury brought her back. This week, we finally do see Comfort leave us, and all I have to say to that is it about damn time. On the male side though, it is hard to see this choice go home. This week we say good-bye to Will. One of my favorites in the competition. What do you think? Did America make the right choice?

Group: Universal Mind Control by Common
Special: The Man I Love
Comfort: Like This by Mims
Will: Closer by Goepele
Courtney: Passion by Kreesha Turner
Twitch: Hollywood Swinging by Kool & The Gang

So You Think You Can Dance: The Top 8

We are just a couple of weeks from the finale in this season of So You Think You Can Dance, and we have the top eight remaining in the competition dancing for the votes of America. Tonight, we will cut one more guy and one more girl from the show and then we hit the semi-finals. Your votes do mean everything now. This week, we have Toni Basil joining Nigel and Mary. As for partners, this week the boys picked their partners out of the hat, and the girls picked their styles. Let’s talk about the performances.

Couples

Will & Courtney: I fell in love with the DJ by Che’ Nelle | Like You’ll never see me again by Alicia Keys

This week, Will was first up, and he chose Courtney out of the hat. She picked up the samba and hip-hop for their routines, and they had to get Will more used to moving his hips the ways that are needed for this performance. As usual, Courtney looks amazing in another revealing costume, and these two hit the stage with a hot and fun routine! These two were hot together. The judges also loved them. Their second performance was a slow hip hop routine, and it was amazing. I definitely enjoyed it. The judges also loved it. The performance made them feel things, and that is something I can agree on.

Twitch & Katee: Mercy by Duffy | Sweet Georgia Brown

A little known fact is that these two knew each other before this season, and now they are partnered this week on a contemporary and Broadway performance. Mia Michaels works with them on the contemporary performance. A performance that was right on with passion and heat, and we see a full on kiss between the two. The performance made it hard to look at technique. Their second dance was a Broadway performance, and these look cute in rehearsals together. It was obvious they knew each other. The performance was wonderful, and these two are the best this season. Nigel reminds us that Twitch is the least trained dancer in the competition, and he is spot on. As for Katee, I think she might win this whole competition.

Mark & Comfort:Party People by Fergie feat. Nelly | Lady Luck by Brian Setzer Orchestra

Comfort has been hanging on week after week. Last week, she got lucky with Jessica having to leave the competition. I honestly think she should have left last week. This week she is partnering Mark in a hip hop and foxtrot routine. In their hip hop routine, Mark was surprisingly well, and so was Comfort. However, Nigel did comment on Comfort’s solo, and how she is must better when she is choreographed. Their second performance was a foxtrot, and in rehearsals they looked to be struggling. Their performance didn’t really wow me though. It didn’t impress the judges either. Could this finally be the end of Comfort’s luck on this show? Could be.

Joshua & Chelsie:A Los Amigos Forever Tango | Everlasting Love by Gloria Estefan

Our last couple is of course Chelsie and Joshua, and they are set to perform an Argentine Tango and a disco routine. For the tango, we see them choreographed by season two contestant Dimitri. They had great choreography, and they did great technically and chemistry wise. For the last performance of the night, these two took the stage with a fun and sassy disco routine that I enjoyed. The judges enjoyed it as well. These two were a good match.

Solos

Comfort:I Got This Down by Similan Mobile Disco
Will:Get Up Offa That Thing by James Brown
Katee: Taking Chances by Celine Dion
Mark:Creator by Santagold
Chelsie:Damaged by Danity Kane
Joshua:Shawty Get Loose by Lil Mama
Courtney: Where I Stood by Missy Higgins
Twitch: Go To Work by Kay L

What we are seeing this week is the dancers stand up and work for towards the finale and the win of the competition. I think we’re starting to see who might win. My picks right now are Will, Twitch and Katee. These three stand out the most to me. Who do you think will win this season?
