Brad Pitt Bums A Ride

pitt_b-gr_01.jpg

It seems motorcycles are very big with the Hollywood set. It isn’t unheard of to see Orlando Bloom, Keanu Reeves or any number of others riding around the city of Los Angeles on their motorcycles. Another one of those you might see is forty-five year old actor Brad Pitt.

He was out riding in Los Angeles on Thursday when his bike decided to break down just outside Franklin Village. Instead of waiting for help to arrive, the actor asked some of the paparazzi that constantly follow his every move for a lift. They were more than willing to help the actor out.

Earlier this week, Brad’s main squeeze was named Hollywood’s top earning actress for the past twelve months with $27 million in earnings. This beat out Brad’s ex Jennifer Aniston. Next up for Pitt is Inglorious Basterds. His next project, Moneyball, was axed recently, and it looks like the people of New Orleans want the actor to run for mayor of their city. The actor is always busy. Check out the latest international trailer for Inglorious Basterds below. The flick hit theaters in August.

Poster: Surrogates

Bruce Willis has an all new movie coming out soon, and I’m actually excited to see this one.  I posted the trailer for Surrogates back in May. It is the next big action flick from Willis, and in this one the world is lived virtually. No one lives their lives anymore. No death, no disease, just life.

However, that changes, as someone figures how to kill people while they sit in the safety of their homes connected to a machine. This leads one man to break out of the virtual world and try to find out who is killing people and how they managed to do it. That one man is Bruce Willis.

Surrogates is set for release on September 25th, and we now have a new poster for the flick. A good one too! Check that out below, and you can find the trailer I posted back in May here . What do you think? Are you ready for a new film from Bruce Willis? At least it isn’t Die Hard 5!

Ledger Wanted Out Of The Dark Knight

joker-crashes-mob-meeting.jpg

Yesterday on this blog, I wrote about Vanity Fair’s tribute to Australian actor Heath Ledger. Now with the magazine actually hitting the newsstands here in the United States, there seems to be a bit more to this article that we originally thought there would be. This one has me a bit puzzled and scratching my head.

Many would call Heath Ledger’s break out role that of The Joker in The Dark Knight, which we can all now see over and over again as it plays on HBO. It premiered on the cable network earlier this month. However, now the actor’s agent Steven Alexander has come out saying that the actor had a specific deal with The Dark Knight where he would be paid whether he worked or not.

Heath wasn’t looking for a big summer blockbuster role that might label him forever and follow him for the rest of his career, so he tried to play his role so over the top that he would end up getting fired and still paid anyway. Heath’s performance as The Joker was out there and over the top. He made me cringe every single time his character was on screen, but was this him purposely trying to get out of the role? Some say it was this performance that lead to his death. What do you think? Check out what his agent had to say about it below.

The real decision to take the role was because of the film’s unusually long shoot, which would give Ledger an excuse to turn down other offers. And since he was guaranteed to collect a paycheck, Ledger was hoping that his performance would be so “far-out” that he would end up being fired and become the beneficiary of a lengthy, paid vacation. His agent added that while Ledger wanted to get paid, he didn’t want to be part of the massive blockbuster that “The Dark Knight” turned out to be.

Vanity Fair Remembers Heath Ledger

With yet another quick and tragic death making headlines around the world this week with tributes in magazines to come in the days ahead, it is odd to see another recent tragic death brought back into the spotlight, but that is what is happening. Vanity Fair has paid tribute to Heath Ledger with their August issue. They are remembering the actor with a piece that goes over his last days on this earth.

The actor was a troubled man who was acting not for fame or money, but for the craft and the respect of those others like himself. He died last January in a sudden death where drugs played a part. This is much like the current tragedy with Michael Jackson, where it is now believed an overdose is to blame.

Heath Ledger was truly one of the great younger actors of our time, and he had such potential for great things. The August Issue of Vanity Fair hits store shelves on July 1st. Check out the cover and some of the photos from inside below.

He wasn’t motivated by money or stardom, but by the respect of his peers, and for people to walk out of a movie theater after they’d seen something that he’d worked on and say, ‘Wow, he really disappeared into that character.’ He was striving to become an ‘illusionist,’ as he called it, able to create characters that weren’t there.

Orlando Bloom Crashes Into Malibu

orlando-bloom-6169-15.jpg

Orlando Bloom seems to have some wicked bad luck when it comes to driving in Los Angeles. The actor just returned from a week long trip to Australia with girlfriend Miranda Kerr. Rumors around them have suggested a possible engagement, but both have denied the rumors. However, after returning from a trip down under, the two were seen looking at a Malibu beach house. Looks like the two are ready to move in together.

Bloom’s fender bender happened Tuesday afternoon when he was rear ended. This isn’t the first time the British actor has been involved in an accident in Hollywood. In October 2007, he was involved in a more serious accident, but he wasn’t charged. His two passengers were injured. This time around though there are no injuries to report, and he exchanged information with the other driver at the scene. It just looks like Bloom doesn’t handle driving in the States well.

Poster & Trailer: The Time Traveler’s Wife

timetravelerswifeposter.jpgThis movie has been a long time coming. The Time Traveler’s Wife began filming in the fall of 2007. With Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams being the main stars of this cast, the movie brings to the big screen the book of the same name. The rights to the book were purchased by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Productions back in 2004, as a possible project for himself and then wife Jennifer Aniston. However, once they divorced, he casted Bana and McAdams.

The delay in release for this one was caused partially by Bana going bald for Nero. They needed to wait for his hair to grow back to re-shoot some scenes. The movie was originally set for February 2010 release, but it was moved up and is now set for release on August 14th. This is our first look of the movie, and the trailer alone will make you want some tissues. I can’t even imagine what the rest of the movie is like. Check out the trailer and poster for The Time Traveler’s Wife below. What do you think?

Jessica Alba Jumps The Shark

jessica-alba-shark-attack.jpg

Apparently, Jessica Alba is in a bit of hot water this week. She has just started filming The Killer Inside Me in Oklahoma City, and she has caused some chaos by joining in a campaign to protect the great white shark. There are pictures of her vandalizing the city by putting up posters of sharks.

As soon as the pictures of her were released, Jessica Alba immediately apologized for her actions. One of the posters were put in a billboard for the United Way. The actress is currently under investigation by the Oklahoma City police for her actions. If convicted, the actress would face no jail time, as the damage is under one thousand dollars.

I got involved in something I should have had no part of. I realize that I should have used better judgment, and I regret not thinking things through before I made a spontaneous and ill-advised decision to let myself get involved with the people behind this campaign. I sincerely apologize to the citizens of Oklahoma City and to the United Way for my involvement in this incident.

Celebrities Protest Prop 8

Since last summer, the fight over legalizing gay marriage in California has been mentioned on this blog. The fact that some gay couples went forward and married before the ban was reinstated in November has been at the forefront of the minds of many celebrities including Ellen Degeneres and Portia Derossi.

Many celebrities joined protests immediately after the November election, and we once again saw celebrities out protesting alongside the LGBT community as the California Supreme Court ruled on Proposition 8. Those couples that married in the months before the November election are still married, but gay marriage is now still banned in the state of California.

Part of the battle was one, but the war is not over.

Celebrity Today Movie Report - 5/18

terminator_salvation_bale_worthington.jpg

Monday has arrived, and that means it is time to look at the past weekend’s top movies at the box office. Many thought Star Trek had a chance of claiming the top spot for the second week in a row, but that didn’t happen. While coming close to it, Star Trek only came in second place behind this week’s main new release, Angels & Demons - the sequel to The Da Vinci code. Angels & Demons was able to bring in $48 million in box office receipts, while Star Trek was able to bring in $43 million. X-Men Origins: Wolverine slipped into third place.
In the week ahead, we see the release of the next movie in the Terminator saga, Terminator Salvation. With an early Thursday release, we will have to wait and see just how well the movie does, but I think it is safe to say we will see this one hit number one this weekend. Other new releases into theaters this week include Dance Flick and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.
As for DVD and CD releases hitting stores on Tuesday, we have My Bloody Valentine: 3D, Valkyrie and Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Music releases include new music from Eminem, Tori Amos, and Lionel Richie. Check out below for a full list of what is coming out this week.

New Posters For Public Enemies

Last night in Hollywood, we had the premiere for Terminator Salvation. We are just about a week away before we see Christian Bale’s John Connor battle against machines in 2018. However, Bale is a busy man, and Terminator Salvation is not the only movie coming out this summer for the actor.

He also has a new movie coming out that stars Johnny Depp, Public Enemies. This movie is set for release on July 1st, and after having seen the trailer and these new posters I am all ready for this one to hit theaters. However, first we need to have Terminator Salvation to come out! Check out the new posters of Bale and Depp below.
