Terminator Is Up For Sale

Yes, this news was just released yesterday. The company that currently owns the rights to Terminator, Halcyon, is putting then up for sale. Right now, they are asking for $200,000 for the franchise. However, they have already one bite on the franchise. Joss Whedon, of Buffy fame, has already put in an opening bid of 10,000 dollars for the Terminator rights. This bid came in only moments after the auction was opened.
I have been a huge Terminator fan since the original came out. Four movies and a television series later, and it looks like the franchise might have killed its last human. Terminator Salvation came out back in May, and it did less than hoped. The R-Rated director’s cut of the movie hits DVD later this month.
What do you think? Do you have some extra money lying around to buy the rights to Terminator? The rights would give the owner the right to make more movies and television series based on the franchise? Do we really want more Terminator?

With what’s in MY pocket. . . I’ll be fortunate enough to buy one of “metal Arnold’s” pinkies (!).
Joking aside, I would not at all be able to buy anything close to what the company is bargaining for. . . and, as a writer, I don’t have any idea of what to really do with the rights. Movie companies always take risks when they make a movie and when they release it because the audience is very human; they are unpredictable. A person could easily love the “first one” and then when the sequel was in the theaters think “it looks awesome but. . . nah” since people just have. . . I don’t know. . . freedom of choice.
I would love to write movies. . . but I’m learning everyday. I want to write for a good cause.
THE fourth film looked like an epic piece of filmmaking but. . . I just didn’t see it (sorry, guys). I personally have no clue where they will take this franchise. . . as it seems to be in lost hope.
Fans. . . if you hope this not to be true. . . just buy the DVD’s.
As a Christian, I wouldn’t know what to write for a film like this besides maybe characters slowly learning to become heroes and following Jesus as they would risk their lives. That would be literal salvation to me. . God bless.
