A big news day yesterday if you are a fan of television! First off, we have news of the date ABC will bring back Lost. 2010 will mark the start of the sixth and final season of the series. That date has been set for February 2nd. Where we will have a two hour season premiere to kick things off. Looks like we might be set for one amazing ending when this one returns with so many faces returning in this final season including Ian Somerhalder and Emilie de Ravin.
Also announced yesterday by Oprah is the end of her syndicated talk show. She will end her series in September 2011. The date currently set for the end is September 9th, 2011, which is the day after her twenty-fifth anniversary. Over twenty years, and it is time to bring it to an end. I haven’t watched in years, minus a few times when she had some of my favorite celebrities as guests. Will you miss Oprah?
We are just about a month away from the release of James Cameron’s Avatar. This is the big movie a lot of people have been waiting for, including myself. James Cameron has been away from the big screen for awhile, but with this one he is coming back and what looks to be a big way. Just from what I’ve seen already it has the potential to be huge. We won’t know if that is the case until the movie actually comes out on December 18th. The movie stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, among others.
A new poster for the movie hit the net just this week, and this one is coming to us from France. They will be able to see the movie a full two days before those of us in the United States. You can check out the poster below. What do you think? Are you ready for Avatar?
If there is one movie set to be released in 2010 that is causing a lot of buzz already, it is definitely Disney’s new Alice in Wonderland remake. The movie is set for a release date in March, and there is already a lot being said about it. Something tells me this is just the beginning. Johnny Depp stars in this one, and just earlier this week he was at a tribute for Tim Burton, who is also behind this new fantastic look at a storybook classic. Three new posters were released just this week, and the excitement is only building. Check those out below.
As for Rachel McAdams, those Spiderman 4 rumors were just that. The actress isn’t set to pick up the role of Black Cat in the new film. That one is set for release in 2011, so we have time before filming even starts.
We have more new music videos for you this week. Two hot women that are definitely to be noticed.
The first video is from Beyonce with her new song, Video Phone, which features Lady Gaga in the video. That one has always scared me just a little, but she seems to know how to get attention. Beyonce has definitely come a long way from her days with Destiny’s Child, and it looks like she has a pretty damn good life. Even when she has friends that do things they probably shouldn’t. Kanye West anyone?!
The second video is a new one from Shakira. Yes, another new Shakira video. Seems like just a week ago I posted her last one. This one she teams up with Lil Wayne. Give It Up To Me was teased late last week on the net, but now we have the full clip from it.
Check out both videos below. What do you think? Hot or not?
Another Monday morning has arrived, and it is pretty much a given what movie managed to top the box office this weekend. 2012 has had people waiting for months now, and the wait finally ended. The next big disaster movie about the end of the world managed to push Disney’s A Christmas Carol out of the top slot by earning $65 million. Not a bad number there at all. Michael Jackson’s This is It only managed to come in fifth. This week is a big release week with another movie the fans have been waiting for. Twilight’s New Moon. Twilight fans have definitely been waiting for this one’s release, so there is no doubt in my mind it will hit the top of the box office this weekend. Planet 51 and The Blind Side will also hit theaters this week.
As far CD & DVD releases go, we have one of the big summer movies now hitting store shelves in Star Trek along with Bruno and My Sister’s Keeper, and with the holidays coming more television offerings are headed to stores including some repackaged favorites including The Sopranos and Rome from HBO. Music seems to be where the big names are at though with releases from John Mayer, Lady Gaga and One Republic all hitting this week. Check below for a full list of new releases.
Some sexy new videos have hit the net over the last couple of days, and there is no way I could not stop from showing you them.
The first video is of Scarlett Johansson and her sexy new ad for Dolce & Gabbana. The ad shows her in all her blonde glory looking sexy just sitting at the kitchen table and peeling an orange. Who knew something so simple could look so good? Scarlett looks amazing with her blonde looks. Not that I didn’t like her as a redhead either, but the blonde wins me out every time.
The other new video is yet another music video release from Rihanna. She has been just about everywhere lately with her interviews about the incident earlier this year with Chris Brown. Here is her sexy new video for Russian Roulette below.
As far as superheroes go, Spiderman ranks right up there with Superman and Batman. We all know when it comes right down to it. It has been a couple of years since the last Spiderman movie, but Sam Raimi has been working not on just one movie but two for the series. Late this week, we had an announcement of a potential villain for the movie. Looks like we could see Rachel McAdams come in to play Black Cat in the fourth installment of the series. Not a done deal yet, but it looks good. Her character sounds very much like another Cat Woman. A rip off almost. Check out her character description below. What do you think?
Insiders says Rachel is a top contender for the role of Felicia Hardy, also known as the black cat. In the story, Spider-Man first encounters the Black Cat when she’s looking to free her sick father from prison. She becomes smitten with Spidey, to the point of a stalker-level obsession.
This is the time of year when shows are picked up or kicked to the curb. Southland was canceled weeks before their first episode of season two aired, which was a shocking move made by NBC. They had already filmed six episodes for the new season. Not long after the cancellation though TNT decided to come in and save the day, picking up the series. The new season will air there.
Dollhouse though is not so lucky. News came down yesterday that the series was being cancelled. This is no surprise. It airs on a Friday night for one, and it is on Fox for another. They are known for canceling low rated series quickly, especially those they put in the Friday night death slot. Eliza Dushku never seems to have any kind of luck with keeping a television show.
Dushku had the following to say about it on her Twitter:
Hear it here. Hey, that’s really why I started twitter, the rumors/news IS true: Dollhouse will not cont. past these 13 eps :(. BUT… There’s always a but… I can’t express enough– this has been one of the MOST rewarding experiences of my career. Thank you guys!
What do you think of Dollhouse’s cancellation? Bad move by Fox or not?
30 Seconds To Mars led by Jared Leto are on the comeback trail. They released their first single, Kings & Queens, a month ago to radio and then to iTunes. This single is off their upcoming release, This Is War, which hits on December 8th. The music video, more of a short film, finally hit MySpace Music last night, and the video takes us into the heart of Los Angeles on a night ride through the city.
The video was shot over several nights in Los Angeles last month with major parts of the city shut down especially for the shoot. After seeing the video directed by Jared Leto, I’m even more excited to see this new record release from the band. Check out the video below. What do you think? Hot or not?
It seems Rebecca Romijn can’t catch a break when it comes to television shows. Her latest, Eastwick, has just been canceled by ABC. Her last project a couple of years ago, Pepper Dennis, was canned at the end of a short mid-season, and this one looks to be on its way out. I hadn’t caught Eastwick myself this season, but it sounded promising. ABC has ordered more scripts for the latest Jerry Bruckheimer series starring Christian Slater, The Forgotten. Always been a fan of his work, and I keep meaning to check this one out.
With Eastwick on its way out, it looks like ABC might be ready to make some changes to its schedule. One that is being tossed around a bit is moving Ugly Betty out of its Friday death slot, where it seems to have held its own. No official word on if or when this will happen, but Ugly Betty might end up moving from Friday at 9/8c to Wednesday night at 10/9c. If I remember correctly, this will put it in the time slot immediately following Lost when it comes back in January. That is if Lost remains in its time slot.
