Jessica Alba seems to only be busier now than she was before giving birth to her now one year old daughter, Honor Marie. This summer alone, she has had two projects filming at the same time - taking her back and forth between sets in Los Angeles and Texas.
Now we have word from The Hollywood Reporter that she is set to join a new comedy, the latest from The Fockers - Little Fockers. The first in that series aired in 2000 with Meet The Parents. Alba will join the cast as pharmacist. The movie co-stars Robert Deniro and Ben Stiller. Alba is currently working with Deniro on another project, Robert Rodriguez’s Machete.
The actress has been keeping busy though. She was seen out earlier this week with an all new hair style. This summer she has gone from brunette to blond and now we have a new redheaded Alba walking around. Could it be for her new role? Little Fockers will start shooting in a few months with a release date set for July 2010.
Remakes seem to come out all of the time now, and I’m left to wonder if this remake will be worth it every time I see news of another one hitting. However, this one might just work. Nightmare on Elm Street is a classic horror film. The first one hit in 1984, and I remember it scaring me silly.
The first teaser trailer for the movie hit the Internet yesterday, and I can now say I’m thoroughly excited to see this one when it hits theaters on April 30th, 2010. Yes, it is a long ways off. With this trailer though, I’m sure some excitement will build!
Michael Bay is behind this remake, and we can see some of the biggest younger stars in this one including Thomas Dekker and Katie Cassidy. We can see Katie weekly in the new Melrose Place, and Dekker was John Connor in The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Be ready to never sleep again. Check out the trailer below.
Another Monday morning has arrived, and that means it is time to look at what happened at the box office this weekend. We had two big movies released to the public this weekend, and neither of them were able to claim the top spot from Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. That movie topped things with another 24.6 million in earnings. The Surrogates and Fame came in a distant second and third. Surrogates managed $15 million and Fame brought in only $10 million in its first weekend in theaters. Somehow I thought one of those too would manage to hit the top of things.
This weekend, we have a number of new movies hitting theaters including The Invention Of Lying, Zombieland and Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut, Whip It. We also have the re-release of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3-D. Will one of these be able to knock meatballs from the top of the box office? We will have to wait and see what happens!
As for other releases this week, we have a number of new music releases and releases to DVD. Monsters vs. Aliens hits store shelves along with a number of television series seasons also hitting DVD. As for music, we have Madonna’s new greatest hits CD, Celebration, along with releases from Mariah Carey and Alice in Chains. For a complete list of new releases, check below.
The shock-waves from Michael Jackson’s death are still being felt. I think those will be felt for a long time to come. In the same way the death of Elvis is being felt to today. We will finally be able to see his final project, the tour that was supposed to bring him back. However, he died just before the tour was set to start.
Right now, the absence of Michael Jackson in those dates is trying to be dealt with. One name being thrown around to fill the dates left open by Jackson’s death is Bon Jovi. They had a new album set for release on November 10th, and they have done long concert stays. They did ten straight dates at the new Prudential back in 2007.
The trailer for This Is It is now out, and we can see just how amazing Michael was and what he had planned for the world. This Is It will hit theaters on October 28th for only two weeks. Check out the trailer below. What do you think? Will you be heading into theaters to check out the movie.
Well, folks we have our first canceled show of the year! That honor is going to The Beautiful Life, which premiered only a couple of short weeks ago. This series came to us from Ashton Kutcher, and it was plagued with problems over the summer when one of the series stars, Mischa Barton, had some problems that landed her in rehab for a brief time. Some thought her role would be recast before the season started.
However, Mischa remained involved, and the series went to air. Now, production was halted on Friday while the seventh episode was being shot. After only one million tuned in to see this week’s episode. Not a high turnout at all. The plug was quickly pulled, and a new series will be put in its place. I didn’t catch the series myself, but I know it was one of the hyped series of the summer, and with Mischa’s off-screen antics, you would think some would tune in, but it didn’t work out that way. No further episodes of the series will air.
Earlier this week, Glee became the first full season pick-up of the year over on Fox. What do you think? Was the plug pulled on The Beautiful Life too soon?
Another Friday has arrived, and that means it is time to give you a look at an all-new music video. This one for Miley Cyrus’ new song was just released on Wednesday, and Miley herself has been quite busy. Last week, she participated in VHI’s Divas show. A bit young to be a diva, but she certainly has her moments. This song first hit back in August. Miley is definitely one of those artists I just don’t quite get. I’ve never been caught up in the rave around her, but I know a lot of people have been. She has her moments, but mostly to me she is a girl gone wild. Of course, as the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, she was raised in the business, and that is probably the problem right there. Check out the video for Party in the USA below. What do you think? Hot or not?
If you look at the news out of the Hollywood, it seems to be the return of the 80s cartoon with news about Voltron and Masters of the Universe both topping movie news this week. Last week, Warner Bros. dropped it option on Masters of The Universe.
There has already been one movie version of the popular 80s cartoon. However, we know remakes are all the rage in Hollywood these days. Looks like we might see a new Masters of the Universe after all. Sony and Columbia Pictures look to be in talks to pick up the film option. Talks are on-going and nearly wrapped up it seems.
Not sure I’m too keen on this one after the first movie, even if it was cheesy fun. As for Volton, lawsuits might keep that one from being made. That isn’t shocking either. Lawsuits over things are almost as big remakes these days. What do you think?
Melrose Place has returned. This time its on the CW instead of Fox, and it is following 90210. That series is in season two. Melrose Place is struggling with the ratings right now. We’re only three episodes in though, and the network is hoping this announcement is enough to make those ratings pick up.
Heather Locklear has finally agreed to return to Melrose Place. She had originally said no when asked. Others have returned to the series including Laura Leighton and Thomas Calabro. Others are set to make appearances as well.
Locklear was a major force in the original series, so having her return now is huge. What chaos will she manage to cause in the series? She is set to return to our small screens as Amanda on November 17th! What do you think of the new Melrose Place?
Brad Pitt looks to be trying to join the cast of the next Sherlock Holmes movie. Yes, the first one isn’t even out yet, and they are already thinking sequel. Holmes will hit the big screen at Christmas, but screen writers are already being a hired to write a script for the next movie. Brad Pitt is currently talks to play the movie’s villain, Moriarty.
Earlier this week, he was seen out at an event wearing shoes that let the world know he knew his own name with monogramed BP big and bold on the shoes themselves. Everything looks to be going well in the world of Pitt. He was last seen over the summer in Inglourious Basterds.
If he does end up joining the cast of the next Holmes movie, that would be too much hot on one screen with Law, Downey and Pitt all together in one movie. Is it too soon to be thinking sequel though? The first one isn’t even out yet! What do you think?
Another Monday has arrived, and everyone is wondering just how well the new movies released over the weekend did at the box office. Did Megan Fox dominate the box office with her release, or did one of the other movies released manage to snag the top spot at the box office. Well, I can tell you right now Megan Fox didn’t manage to come in first or even second. Jennifer’s Body came in fifth place behind Love Happens.
Yes, that movie was released even with the problems I mentioned on this blog last week. The number one spot this weekend went to Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. The animated feature earned just a little over $30 million this week. At number two, we have Matt Damon and The Informant with just over $10 million. In just their second week of release, last week’s new releases Sorority Row and Whiteout slipped all the way down to ninth and tenth place.
As for the week ahead, we have a number of new releases including the Fame remake and The Surrogates into theaters, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and The Complete 3rd Season of Ugly Betty to DVD, and a lot of new music. Everything from David Gray to Vertical Horizon. Check out below for a full list of new releases.
