It is Monday morning, and that means it is time for your weekly look at this weekend’s box office and what is coming out in the week ahead. The holiday hangover is now officially over, and we have several movies coming out this week to theaters and DVD. Let’s talk about the box office for a second though. Marley & Me had topped the box office the last two weekend’s, but now that has been bumped down on the box office charts.

Gran Turino drove into first place this weekend with its first weekend in wide release. It knocked out Bride Wars and The Unborn in their first weeks of release with $29 million in box office earnings. This was the fifth week out for Gran Turino, and we know it is Clint Eastwood’s last time on the big screen in front of the camera. This week’s box office take brought the film to $41 million in total earnings. The movie only took $33 million to make.

As for releases, this week we have Defiance going into wide release with several others making their entrances to theaters. One of those movies being My Bloody Valentine 3D starring Jensen Ackles. On DVD, we see Kate Hudson’s My Best Friend’s Girl and Swing Vote hit store shelves. Several other DVD and CD releases are also making their way out this week as well.
