We knew that once Friday The 13th and Halloween were remade, it wouldn’t be too long before someone had the bright idea to remake Nightmare on Elm Street. The first rumors of this possible remake surfaced back over the summer at Comic Con, but it didn’t look to be definite.

Now it is set. The film will begin shooting this spring in Chicago. Word has it that Robert Englund will not be returning as Freddy, but he might appear in the film in some form. This film will come from Warner Bros. & New Line.

It seems the production companies were more willing to move forward with the Elm Street remake after fan reaction to the screenings of Friday the 13th. Get ready to never sleep again in 2010.

As much as I love Jared Padalecki, I won’t see Friday the 13th. Now they’re messing with Freddie? Ugh. Is nothing sacred?
