Chuck Norris Defends Prop 8, CA Supreme Court Speaks

We’ve seen a number of celebrities speak out against the proposition 8, and now we see one speaking out and defending the new law in California. I found this quote by Chuck Norris over at Faded Youth Blog, and I just had to share. I’ve shown much of the outrage against it on this blog by Brad Pitt, Drew Barrymore and others. Only fair to show the other side as well. However, I don’t agree with Chuck, and I disagree on the new law. I live in another state that also passed a similar law this election period, and we did take one giant step back. Take a look at what Chuck has to say:
On Nov. 4, the pro-gay community obviously was flabbergasted that a state that generally leans left actually voted right when it came to holy matrimony. But that’s exactly what happened; the majority of Californians — red, yellow, black and white — voted to define the margins of marriage as being between one man and one woman. California is the 30th state in our union to amend its constitution in doing so, joining Florida and Arizona in this election. Like it or not, it’s the law now. The people have spoken.
You can read Chuck’s full statement over at townhall.com . Late Wednesday afternoon, the California Supreme Court said they would hear challenges to Proposition 8. If successful, the law would be overturned and gays and lesbians in the state of California would once again be allowed to marry.
