Recap & Review: The Walker family would be nothing without chaos in their lives. That is why every episode so much happens. This week opens up with the news that Scotty has received a promotion at work. He has now head chef. Plans go into high gear for a celebration party for him, but instead of Nora taking charge we see Sarah doing that. She will handle the party arrangements. This is new. Meanwhile, Nora and Saul have their own lives to lead, quiet ones, and Justin comments on this and the lack of a significant other for Saul.
However, the whole family gets involved when Sarah overhears Robert talking about Kitty on the speakerphone. Losing this adoption has sent Kitty into a depression. Soon all the Walker family is on the phone to help, and the plan is to get Kitty busy somehow. Kitty isn’t the only one upset. Something is wrong with Kevin as well, but he isn’t too willing to tell Scotty what is wrong. All he wants is food. Lucky for him he knows the head chef. He continues on to help his mother. She is looking at properties to buy one for her organization. However, when he goes to an auction with her, he surprises her and himself by buying a house for Scotty. A house his mother wanted.
Meanwhile, Sarah is still preparing for another Walker dinner party, and this one already has the makings of a disaster. Kitty comes over to go over Sarah’s proposal for her, pointing all its problems in the process. A man shows up way too early. Justin gets the idea to set up his Uncle with someone he knows from NA. No one thinks this is a good idea, but they all go along with it. The guests for the party start to arrive. Kitty is still going over Sarah’s proposal. Nora arrives, and Paul already sticks his foot in his mouth when he mentions their similar cheating related pasts. When Saul arrives, things don’t go well, and Saul immediately has words with Justin. Sarah wants to have her own words with Justin as well.
As expected, another Walker party is ruined when Kevin presents the house he bought to Scotty. He doesn’t take the news well, and he leaves the table. This opens up things for Nora once again to explode at one of her children. She compares her male children to their father and how they handle things. She didn’t want to have Kevin’s help, and she knows Scotty didn’t want Kevin to buy a house without even talking to him. She then leaves the dinner party and leaves her children to do things on their own.
Kitty and Sarah are the first to patch things up after Kitty hears about the distraction plan. All she wanted was a hug. Saul isn’t even that mad at Justin. In fact, he doesn’t need to be set up. He has just started seeing someone. Kevin and Scotty also have a long talk about their finances and Kevin’s motivations behind buying the house. The two work things out in the end as Kevin takes Scotty to open them a joint account.
This series is nothing but drama filled week after week, but it works out the best that way. This family has love at its core, so if things do come they always seem to work it out in the end. Everyone has a place in this family, and they all know how to help each other out when one of them needs it. However, even their best intentioned acts get them in trouble.
