Recap & Review: Last week, we saw the exit of Lindsay Lohan from Ugly Betty, and it looks like the series already is replacing that spot by bringing in Nikki Blonsky from Hairspray. She filmed her first episodes on Halloweem, and she will play an assistant from rival magazine Elle. She will befriend Betty, but it will turn out that will not have the best of intentions. This week, the focus returns to Betty’s love life, as she finally admits to herself that she has a crush on her neighbor Jesse.
She even goes to great lengths to have the two of them bump into each other. She does all she can to get time with him, including offering him her television. That plan goes bust though when Amanda shows up on her doorstep ready to move in. She had been staying at the Mode offices after she was evicted from her apartment. Betty can’t say no to her, but this messes up her plans.
Her next plan is to invite him to the Mode party, but he misunderstands her and thinks she is asking him to play him at the party with his band. However, Daniel and their new CFO just brought in Mariah Carey to perform at the party. That CFO, Conor, is already Mr. Popularity. Wilhelmina already knows she was played by Daniel when Conor came in, and now she is trying to get rid of him.
Amanda has a plan to save Betty. Jesse’s band can perform at an after party that she can charge people to get into and pay her bills off. Amanda takes charge of the party plans, trying to make it the It place to be, while Wilhelmina meets with Conor. As it turns out, she develops a bit of a crush on her own when it comes to the new head of Meade’s finances. She doesn’t even use the information Marc dug up for her.
Marc is a bit on edge himself with Cliff asking him to move in together. He totally avoids Cliff after he asks.He is nervous about taking such a huge step forward, and Cliff finally just pulls the offer off the table. He finally talks to Cliff at the party, and in an impulsive moment Marc proposes. The party moves forward on Betty’s roof. Betty starts to think the guy she likes has a crush on her, especially when he dedicates a song to a special someone. As it turns out that special someone was Amanda because Betty catches the two of them kissing. Betty kicks Amanda out, but has a change of heart not long after. These two look to be set to become roomies.
As for Conor and Meade, Daniel confronts him on the fact Conor is trying to sell off some of the company’s magazines. He thinks Conor is in cahoots with Wilhelmina, but Conor stands up to the both of them, and he dashes Wilhelmina’s crush in all of a few minutes. He decides to stick around the company, and Wilhelmina deals with the fact he is engaged. She can’t use him, and neither can Daniel.
Once again, Betty has problems with her love life. This should be no great shock, but it was nice to see Wilhelmina not get what she wants either. I half expected her to bed Conor and bring him to her side of things, but Conor stood on his own feet and he won’t let either side use him. This might make for an interesting cast addition after all. We needed someone to come in after the series lost Alexis. What did you think of this week’s episode of Ugly Betty? For daily tv listings, check here .

I love this show and so does my 12 year old nephew. The rest of the family thinks we’re nuts but we love it. I felt so sorry for Betty tonight but I thought the last scene with Betty and Wilhelmina sharing a beer on the roof was pretty cool.
