Recap & Review: Last week’s episode took us back to the show’s roots. A case these two need to solve. No heaven or hell. No powers. No angels. Just a demon and the need to kill it. I think this series needed that because with all of the things they have going on the basics of this series were getting lost along the way. I think last week’s episode pulled them back to reality a little. This week’s episode has a slow weird start. The brothers are already at the morgue looking at a man’s body. He supposedly died of a heart attack. Sam and Dean start to investigate though, and they don’t think it was really a heart attack. Three men died of what appeared to be heart attacks all around the same time. This points to another demon of some sort.

After Sam and Dean interview one man, Dean begins to act strangely, and the EMF detector starts to go off soon after. It appears Dean has a problem on his hands. Sam calls Bobby, and it turns out Dean is suffering from ghost sickness. Dean has 24 hours to find their ghost and kill it, or Dean will die. They think it may be the wife of the first man that died. However, the wife was cremated, so it is another ghost. They do start to search for it, and it appears that they find it. A man. Dean is still dealing with ghost sickness, and we get to see Dean unlike we have ever seen him before. Timid and afraid of every single thing. This is definitely a new Dean. They try to find out more about the ghost, a man that died twenty years earlier. However, the deputy has no idea about him, and the sheriff is home sick. It appears he is also suffering from ghost sickness.

Sam and Dean go to interview the brother of their ghost, and they learn about him and how he died. The man thought Luther killed his wife. However, the brother said Luther couldn’t kill a fly. They need to burn his remains, but with the way he died that will be nearly impossible. Then Dean decides he is done with hunting. He walks away from Sam, but he is chased by a little demon dog from hell. Sam finds him with about four hours left of his life, and Dean hallucinates that Sam is possessed by a demon. Sam and Bobby come up with a plan to get rid of the ghost since they can’t destroy its remains. They need to scare the ghost to death. They go to do that while leaving Dean to wait. He keeps hearing and seeing things during this time. The sheriff shows up, and these two are both sick. The two fight, and Dean watches as the sheriff’s heart gives out right in front of him.

Luther won’t come out to Sam this time. He then decides he needs to make the ghost angry. This causes Luther to appear, and he fights Sam. While this is happening, Dean has a visit from Lilith. She disappears at the same time Luther does. Sam and Bobby are successful. Dean has an issue though. He thinks Sam is possessed by a demon. At the end of the episode, there is an outtake from the shooting of this episode where we see Jensen Ackles lipsync to what is said to be his favorite song, Eye of the Tiger. A hilarious moment! This episode once again takes us back to our roots with this show. Yes, there was some talk of hell and demons, but it was a simple case that once again needed solving. I really am enjoying this season of Supernatural. What did you think of this episode? Check Whats Hot on TV for daily listings.

I really loved this episode and you’re right - it seems to be back to the heart of the show. There was a monster-of-the-week, but the main plot was still advanced very subtly. Did you catch the little flicker of white in Sam’s eye right at the end? So was that a case of Ghost fever still somewhat effecting Dean, or is Lilith really possessing Sam in some way? So many questions raised!

And the outtake had me almost peeing my pants it was so funny!
