Family Guy Gets Political

In an episode of the Fox animated series, Family Guy, there was a scene that poked some fun at the political happenings here in the US Today. During the episode, Stewie is seen dressed as a nazi and wearing a McCain/Palin button. Now some are wondering if this pushes the limits of what is funny and what goes too far. I have been a fan of Family Guy on and off through the years. It is one of the funnier animated series, more geared to adults and teens. I’m not sure how appropriate this was though. Ypou can see the video here .As for other election happenings on television, Sarah Palin’s appearance on Saturday Night Live this past Saturday earned the series the highest ratings it has had in fourteen years. However, one SNL alum, Chevy Chase, says Sarah Palin was wrong to appear on the series.

I’m pretty sure it was meant to poke fun at the Republicans as a whole, rather than the McCain-Palin campaign specifically.

I thought her appearance on SNL didn’t do much for her eithe rway. She barely said anything and was grimacing the whole time. She wasn’t even remotely funny. And it was a shame that Tina Fey seemed to dial down her portrayal. IF someone’s going to agree to poke fun at themselves, then they should…I don’t know…do that.

The political undertones in the last two or three episodes such as the one featured in this article, as well as Jesus asking Bush how he became the president of anything, the war for oil, etc etc, was pushing it a bit too far. Republicans as nazis? Might as well come out and call the Democrats socialists. I’m a huge fan of family guy but these shots have been pretty out of place, numerous, and annoying, and they don’t belong in Family Guy.
