Recap & Review: True Blood has been a surprise hit for HBO. Fans needing a little vampire fix have latched on to this series following the exit of Moonlight over on CBS. The two series can’t be anymore different though. True Blood takes on the darker aspects of vampirism, and there are no holds bard. Sex, violence, and dialogue are all out there and in your face as a viewer. Last week, we saw the death of Sookie’s grandmother, and this sent her straight into the arms of Bill. They make love and he bites her for the first time. This opens up things to question. What will happen to this couple now?

This week’s episode opens up right where last week ended off. We see Bill mid-bite just before he takes Sookie’s virginity. This happened fast because in past episodes, Sookie was playing the innocent and never been touched card up quite a bit. We then see Bill and Sookie share a bath together, and he fills her in on some of the myths about vampires. She then shares memories of her child, and why she was so afraid of intimacy before this. In her childhood, an uncle abused her. It appears to be the same man that showed up at her grandmother’s funeral, and that is why she was so upset he was there. Bill ends up showing her where he sleeps before he goes to sleep for his day.

As for Jason, he needs more vampire blood. He goes to Lafayette for his next V fix, but Lafayette will not give him any. His cousin Tara is still dealing with her mother. Last week, she blamed her alcoholism on a demon. Tara still doesn’t believe her. Tara then goes to see Sam, and these two argue. He isn’t happy with the way she left him at the hotel. Tara then says she might be unboyfriendable. She isn’t good with relationships. While she is with Sam, she receives a call from someone. Apparently, her mother went for a loan to get an exorcism. Tara comes to the bank to find her, and then takes her home. She decides to help her mother with the exorcism.

Sookie returns home in the morning hours to find Jason going through things in the house. It looks like he is trying to find things to steal. Jason figures out she had sex with Bill, and the two fight. She then kicks him out of the house, and stops him from taking anything. That night, she works at the bar, and she is in a fantastic mood. This makes people question things, but she is trying to hide the fact she was with Bill. She even has a scarf wrapped around her neck to hide the bite marks. However, she tells the other waitress, and the secret is soon out at the bar. Sam even rips the scarf off of her neck.

Meanwhile, Bill is fighting for Sookie’s honor as he goes to find her uncle and kills him. Sookie does seem to have changed. Bill’s fellows show up at the bar, and they cause trouble. They are about to kill Sam when Bill shows up. He is talked into leaving with the group, and he tells Sookie he should be with his own kind. You can tell this hits Sookie hard, especially with what just happened between them the night before. The people at the bar are all riled up, and they want to go after the vampires. Sookie tries to tell Sam to do something, but she is the only one that thinks something needs to be done.

All of this is happening while Jason heads to the vampire bar for his V fix. After a discussion with the woman at the door, she finally let him in. She remembers Sookie from her previous visit. Jason tries to get some vampire blood, but he is not able to get it from anyone there. He does find some though with another woman. The two head to his place while Tara is with her mother to get the exorcism. The woman goes through with it, and something does happen there. Demon or not, her mother does change. After, she is ride of the demon the woman that performed the exorcism then goes to work on Tara to do one on her. Tara wants no part of it.

Jason finally gets his V, and he has sex with the woman that gives it him. She is seriously one huge hippie. As for Sookie, she goes to look for Bill at his home, but he isn’t there when she arrives. He didn’t even sleep there. The next morning, some of the men from the bar decide to try to bomb the home of the other vampires. They aren’t the only people out that morning. Two fisherman, one the detective at the city, sees Sam running naked through the woods.  The episode this week ends with four coffin’s being taken out of the home. Sookie wants to know if Bill was insise. We’ll have to wait until next week to find out.

This series keeps getting better and better with each week that passes. Sookie and Bill joined as one, but there is still something more going on here. Something we don’t know. We still have a lot to learn about these characters, and with only a few more episodes left this season we don’t have much time to find it out. Good news is though that True Blood will definitely be back next summer. What did you think of this week’s episode? Remember to find out what’s hot on TV before it airs, check out here .
