TV.com: The Great Ashby - Hank ends up in jail and makes a new friend there.

Review: Last week, we saw the return of Hank Moody on Showtime with the premiere of the second season. Hank and Karen are back together, and she makes him get a vasectomy. After that, the two end up at a party where Hank gives oral to the wrong woman. This starts a fight that leads to trouble when Hank is pulled over by the police. This week, Hank is behind bars. Karen and his daughter come to visit. Karen gives him the silent treatment while his daughter tells him they have no plans to bail him out. Karen thinks he needs time to think.

Hank then decides to go to Charlie.  Charlie is having his own issues with his wife. She seems to be going through some type of mid life crisis. She wants to kick it old school. Charlie is also dealing with his former assistant and Mia, who still is not fessing up to stealing Hank’s work. Dani is working Charlie over.  She goes to their boss, and Charlie ends up fired because they have several videos of him masturbating in his office. If there is a camera in his office, where are the sex tapes with him and Dani? That came to mind.

Hank isn’t able to find Charlie, but he does meet up with someone in jail. Someone that recognizes his name as a writer immediately. He wants Hank to write something. When Becca talks to Mia and Karen, she finally leaves to go bail him out. However, the man he met in the cell bails him out before Karen arrives on seen. The man wants one drink with Hank, which is something he can’t refuse. However, Hank isn’t sure he can write this guy’s story until he watches him get a blow job while they are sitting there. Hank had no idea it was happening.

That night, Charlie is trying to tell Marcy he was fired, and it doesn’t go well. She finally calls in Hank, and he arrives on scene. He tells Charlie that Lou Ashby wants to hire him to write his biography, and this seems to lift Charlie a bit. Hank is then able to return home, and Karen finally forgives him for giving oral to the wrong woman. However, this incident brings some doubts about them back to the surface.

I really liked seeing more of a Charlie and Marcy this episode. However, there is something seriously off about Marcy. Plus, the fact Mia is still keeping Hank’s writing. Wouldn’t someone that read his work know she didn’t write it? I almost want Karen to read it and blow this whole thing with Mia wide open. What did you think of this week’s episode of Californication?
