Pathology hit DVD on September 23rd, and if you are of the light of heart, this movie might not be the right one for you. Pathology stars Milo Ventimiglia as a graduate from Harvard Medical School. Being at the top of his class has earned him the right to enter one of the top pathology programs in the country. Yes, pathology means we get to see a lot dead bodies in this movie from the creators behind Crank.

These bodies are in all kinds of states, and we see the fellow pathology interns of Ted Grey laugh and play with the dead. This is sometimes difficult to watch. When it comes to gore, this movie has plenty of it. The movie begins with Ted entering the facility for the first time and meeting his fellow interns. This is an odd assortment of people that he is set to work with, but we don’t learn just how odd this group is until we get into things.

This group likes to play a little game, and after awhile the group invites Ted along to play. The game is dangerous though. The five go about killing people, using the skills they have used as pathologists to create the perfect murders. Each one contributes, and the game becomes high stakes the more Ted gets involved. He ends up cheating on his fiance in the process, played here by Alyssa Milano. The other woman is played by Lauren Lee Smith, who some might remember from Showtime’s The L Word. As things progress, we soon learn just what Ted’s participating in the game will cost him.

This movie is one of the most dark and gore filled movies I have seen in a long time. Dark in content, and also dark in the way the film was shot. This makes it difficult at times to follow along with what is happening on screen. Milo Ventimiglia does not put forth his best efforts here, and Milano is barely on screen. When she is, her talents are completely wasted. The DVD itself contains the movie and some bonus features that take us behind the scenes and teach us more about pathology. An extend scene and a music video is also included. This movie might be best for those that are a fan of gore and violent movies. All others might want to pass it up.
