Review: Grey’s Anatomy might not have had the best season last year, and it appears they head straight forward to improve it. The hospital is ranked the number twelve teaching hospital.  They were at number two. Meredith keeps having a dream where Derek dies, Lexie wants George and she finds out he once slept with her sister. While the team waits for a trauma to come, a group of women come in with their limo driver that flew the windshield on the group’s way to a ball. The women all have minor injuries, but the driver ends up dying.

A call comes through, and it turns out the husbands that go with the three women have also ended up in a wreck of their own. The team diverts them to Seattle Grace. This is where things get complicated. One of the wives is having an affair with one of the other men. She is cheating on both her own husband and her best friend. One man might not walk again, another has a pen in a throat courtesy of a new arrival to the hospital, a military surgeon that just came in from Iraq on leave. He comes to Seattle Grace and jumps in right from the beginning, and you can see he intriques Cristina right away.

The team is working on all their various patients. The affair is making Meredith question her plan to move in with Derek, even after she asks him. In surgery, Rose gives Derek problem after problem, and this is on top of the problems they have with the patients, even problems with medical insurance. This episode has a lot going on both with the patients and the staff. Cristina tells Meredith that her moving in with Derek would be a big mistake. She says this just before slipping and falling on some ice. This is followed by a large piece of ice falling and piercing her stomach.

The military doctor and Meredith take care of Cristina, while the rest of the team takes the advice of this same military doctor on the paralyzed patient. They are going to freeze him, against Derek’s advice. The one man is frozen, but there is complications. Hahn calms Torres down, and we can see these two building towards something. Meanwhile, the cheating wife tells her friend about the affair. This sends the woman into anger. The husband asks for forgiveness Soon another of the men dies which sends the chief over the edge as he lashes out at Meredith.

By the end of the episode, we see Major Hunt offered a job at the hospital just before he kisses Cristina. This one might definitely heat things up. Rose changes jobs after she stabs Derek’s hand during a surgery. This episode bounces back and forth so much, but in the chaos I see the series I fell in love with season one and two. The series we lost last season. Derek moves in with Meredith. We have a brief appearance from Denny, who actually talks to Izzie this time, even if it was in some kind of dream. This one moment brought me to tears. I’m excited to see this series return to its former glory, and it looks like we might be on the way to seeing it do just that. We just need to wait two weeks for another new episode. What did you think of tonight’s fifth season premiere?

I was crying when Denny stood there at the elevator door. You’re right- it brings me back to the beginning of this show. Hopefully, they’ll keep up the great storylines. I really liked the army doctor, (Hunt?). I think we’ll be seeing him again.
