Review: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles premiered on Fox this past January. Many thought the new series wouldn’t last. Some mentioned cost as a main factor behind the series. Fox is known to chop series quickly if ratings don’t pan out. This series takes the terminator mythology and twists it completely. The Sarah Connor Chronicles is set following the second film, and it ignores the third. The series gained popularity in its short run on Fox at midseason, and the second season premiered Monday night on Fox.

In this premiere episode of the second season, we pick up right where the first season finale left off. A jeep crash and a terminator that goes on a rampage killing twenty FBI agents in his search for John Connor. His mission is to terminate Connor. In the opening moments of the premiere, we see John and his mother captured. Cameron comes to save them, or so we think. There has been a short in her system, and she has a new mission. That mission is to now terminate John Connor.

For a good part of the episode, we see John and Sarah on the run from the terminator that had become their friend. They finally capture her, and John is able to deactivate her. It is at this point they rejoin with Reese and Sarah’s former flame. They all know they need to destroy Cameron, but John fights them on this. He wants to fix her. Tricking them into thinking he has gone along with this plan, he reactivates Cameron, and she has returned to her original mission of protection. For now, all is well.

A side story of this episode introduces us to a new character. One that is able to get the Turk and start a new computer division to create what looks to be Skynet. We see this woman as ruthless, and by the end of the episode we learn why. She’s a terminator, similar to the one we saw in the second terminator film that can change shape easily. This one looks to be trouble folks. This return was explosive. A great way to start off the second season for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. What did you think?
