Britney Not Performing At VMA’s!

This just in from her manager. He spoke on KIIS-FM in Los Angeles Monday morning, and it is now clear that Britney will not be on stage performing at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. She is involved somehow, but performing isn’t how!

She is working on her new album, and she did make an appearance in Madonna’s new tour. Her video appears during Madonna’s performance of Human Nature. The VMA’s will air September 7.

Celebrity Today Movie Report For August 25th

Even with a number of new movies out this past weekend, Tropic Thunder somehow managed to stay on top for the second week in a row. They earned an estimated $16.1 million at the box office, which when you look at the recent successes other openers have had this summer, the number is quite low. It was a close call though because one new release was close on Tropic Thunder’s heels.

The House Bunny, the latest release from Anna Faris,  came in second place with an estimated $15.1 million in box office receipts. Death Race, another new release this weekend, came in third place, while The Dark Knight came in fourth. Overseas, The Dark Knight is still coming out on top in box office numbers there.

As for looking ahead to what is coming out this week, we have a number of new releases out in time for the end of summer. Babylon A.D. is the latest action movie from Vin Diesel. His next movie, The Fast & Furious, had its trailer released to audiences that went out to see Death Race. The trailer is not yet available online, but it should be soon, and as soon as it is I will have it for you here!

On DVD, we see a number of new releases as well. These include the comedy from Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher, What Happens in Vegas, the second season of Heroes, the fifth season of One Tree Hill, and a number of best of collections of many popular series. Musicwise, we have new music from The Verve and Blues Traveler! For a full list of releases check after the cut.

A Look At - Madonna

Last Saturday, Madonna, the Queen of pop, turned fifty years old. At the age of 50, Madonna still works better than most. Just this weekend, she kicked off her latest world tour in England. She takes chances with her music, and she has always been one to reinvent herself. Whether you have been a fan of Madonna since the beginning or you are a newer fan, her music has reached many over the years.

Over twenty years ago, she stood next to Dick Clark and she claimed she wanted to rule the world. Well, she might not rule the world, but she has been on top of the music world for quite some time. She’s had record after record released. She ventured into the world of acting, and she is even a mom. In recent years, she has moved to London and had strong opinions about America and the American lifestyle that have earned her a few enemies, but she keeps pushing on.

In recent weeks, her life has been in tormoil as her love life came into question. She has been married to Guy Ritchie for years, but this summer rumors of a romance between New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez came into play. He left his wife for Madonna, but it appears that was a wrong move on his part because she is still with Guy. Rumors seem to surround Madonna and her life, and they have since she started. She has never had a problem sharing her opinions, and at the age of fifty she still doesn’t.

At the start of her tour, she has videos displaying many of the world’s political leaders including McCain and Obama. Madonna will never stop being upfront about her opinions, and it is refreshing to see. At the age of 50, she is still one of the best entertainers out there, and I don’t see that changing any time soon. Take a quick look of a megamix of some of her hits below.

Superman Revamp

supermanreturns.jpg

Superman is set to return again, but this time around we won’t see Singer again behind the helm. Superman Returns did well in its 2006, but apparently not good enough. After the success of The Dark Knight, DC Comics wants to put a new darker spin on Superman as well. This one would probably be out sometime in 2010. Warner Bros. is also looking ahead to the rest of the DC schedule for the next three years.

We might see other DC super heroes hit the big screen including Flash, Wonder woman and a possible movie that would put Superman vs. Batman. This is after the new Superman makes his own appearance in theaters. All of this is very excitement, but this revamp reminds me of the one we saw of Hulk this summer. The Incredible Hulk remade 2003’s Hulk, but I don’t think we had a better movie.

The two just focused on different things. 2003 Hulk focused on the internal drama for Bruce Banner, while this summer’s Hulk focused on the action aspect of the story. Both were good in their own right, and both have their fans. I happen to prefer the 2003 Hulk to this summer’s version, but someone else might like this summer’s release over Ang Lee’s vision. The same might happen with the new Superman. Only time will tell.
