A Look At - The Dark Knight Curse

There has been a lot of buzz this week about a curse plaguing the stars of The Dark Knight. They seem to have a bit of bad luck hit the cast. Starting with Heath Ledger’s worst luck as he passed away in January of an overdose to sleeping pills and painkillers. This week, Morgan Freeman was in a car accident near his home, and then later in the week it was announced his wife filed for divorce from the 71 year old actor. We can’t forget the arrest of Christian Bale a few weeks ago either. His mother and sister filed charges against the actor for assault.

Is there a curse at play here? Many have been talking about it this week, and many others are laughing at the talk. The Dark Knight is just a movie. There can be no real curse attached to it. Can there? Are all these mishaps just that, mishaps? Unfortunate coincidences? Some might say that, and they all very well could be. There are just too many of them attached to this one movie’s release, and that means there will always be some whisperings about some sort of curse befalling all those involved with it.

This isn’t the first time a movie has had the word cursed attached to it either. Anyone remember the film Poltergeist? The film trilogy appeared during the 1980s, and many say the film was cursed because four cast members during the six year period in which the movies were released. Other mishaps also occurred including the home used in the filming being later damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake. The deaths are what get people.

The youngest being the death of the actress that played Carol Anne. She died at the age of twelve. The actress that played the older sister Dana in the first film also died after being choked by her boyfriend. The actor that played Robbie almost died during filming when there was a malfunction during the scene where he wrestles a toy clown that is choking. He almost really choked. Other deaths also occurred, and the actors claimed there were spooky happenings surrounding them even off-set. Many claim this movie is cursed because of all that happened.

Other films that have curses attached to them include The Crow (Brandon Lee died during filming), The Exorcist and Superman. What do you think? Can a movie and its cast really be cursed? Or is it just a huge bit of mumbo jumbo?

I was very sad to hear about all the bad things happening to the cast of ‘Dark Knight,’ but I have to say that I don’t believe in curses.

I don’t think they’re cursed. They’ve just made too much money off the movie to be called cursed. I am sorry to hear about all their troubles though, especially Morgan Freeman’s! Did his wife leave him after the accident? That blows.

Something to think about, isn’t it? As I was reading the top part, I was thinking about Poltergeist and the curse related to that one.

No one will ever really know, but it does make it all more interesting.

My religion doesn’t allow me to believe in curse. Also my faith in God doesn’t allow me to believe in curse. So if people insist on puting the blame some where how about attatching it to the devil after all he is responsible for all wrong doing.
