Christian Bale Talks Terminator
The Dark Knight is heading into theaters this Friday, and last night the movie had its New York premiere. The family of Heath Ledger made a special trip from his home in Australia to attend last night’s premiere. Early reviews are mostly positive. Some are asking already if switching from Katie Holmes to Maggie Gyllenhaal was wise. Everyone will find something to talk about when it comes to this movie. It was hyped before Heath Ledger’s passing, but with his death even more focus was put on it.
However, The Dark Knight isn’t the only movie franchise Christian Bale is taking part in. He is also playing the role of John Connor in the next Terminator movie, Terminator: Salvation. He will also play Connor in the next two films if things go the way they should. Shooting began back in May, but Bale himself has just arrived on location in the last couple of weeks. He was busy working on another project, Public Enemies.
He had some comments for Coming Soon about Terminator Salvation, and he explains why he took on the role of John Connor.
But what I view in it, and what has ultimately made me make the choice to make it, is that I see the same potential for reinvention and for breathing new life into the mythology. That’s what I view our responsibility as filmmakers to be. It’s pointless if we don’t succeed in doing that.
Christian Bale is truly a serious actor. He takes every role he does and he picks out what he feels is best for him. I think he is the perfect choice for John Connor. Right now though, he’s Bruce Wayne, and he is set to make a killing at the box office this weekend. I just purchased my own ticket for The Dark Knight, and the first showing open to me was just after 11am. Yes, there will be a full review of the movie on this blog Saturday!

Keep up the good work.
