Red Dawn To Be Updated

Published by Regina Avalos at 12:37 am under Movies Edit This

reddawn_l.jpgWord out of Hollywood this week is that there are plans in motion for another remake. This one will bring Red Dawn back to the screen. The original aired back in 1984, and it starred a young Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Yes, before they heated up the screen together in Dirty Dancing. That movie is hitting its 20th anniversary. C. Thomas Howell and Lea Thompson also made an appearance.

This new film will be re-written to go along with the times we now are living post 9/11. This might heighten the mood of the film. The original told the story of a group of high school students after an invasion here on our home soil. The thought of this happening in today’s society is just scary to me. The script is being worked on currently, and Dan Bradley is set to direct. There is no word on when this movie would hit the big screen.

As far as remakes go though, this one might be interesting to see. I remember the original, and it was something I enjoyed. An updated version might do very well for MGM.

Red Dawn was an awesome movie - very powerful! I will be interested to read the premise of the next one, and see who they choose to star in it.
