Sony Brings Hancock To A TV Near You
Hancock hits theaters today, but if you own a Sony Bravia television set, you will be able to see Hancock from the comfort of your home. No lines at the theater, and no waiting for the movie to hit DVD months from now. Just wait a little bit, and you can pop some popcorn, pick out your favorite drink and sit back on your own couch. This is something new that Sony is trying. Hancock is going to be there guinea pig. Their television sets are Internet enabled, and their hope is to make this something used in the future.
Sony may be the first to try this experiment, but if it is successful other studios may follow suit. Could we be getting closer to bypassing the movie going experience and the wait for DVD? The future is looking bright. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens in the time ahead. Anyone go to see Hancock today? I planned to, but I didn’t make it to the theater today. I might go this weekend though. Nice way to spend the holiday! If you went, what did you think of the movie?

This would be great for me (if I could actually afford the set) because I never get out to the movies. But I can’t see how they make their money on the actual film. Is there some kind of charge for the download?
There doesn’t seem to be. Perhaps in the cost to the service? It’s something new and experimental, so I’m sure they are working things out still.
I’ll be going tomorrow @ 12 to see the movie. Maybe I’ll post a review. As for Sony, I’m sure others will follow, but there’s something to be said for actually going to see a greatly anticipated film on the big screen.
