So You Think You Can Dance: Top 14 Perform
Things are heating up and getting tougher as the top seven remaining couples in So You Think You Can Dance this season dance it out for America’s vote. This week, the couples don’t just perform one dance but two. This will make it even harder on them to learn their routines and do their best.
Jessica and Will - Dance 1: Choo Choo Ch’ Boogie by Five Guys Named Moe | Dance 2: Alone by Heart
The first couple up tonight was Jessica and Will with a jive performance. Will has been outstanding throughout the competition, but Jessica has let him down a bit. Tonight was a mix bag with the judges with this first performance. Jessica received some comments from both Mary and Nigel. The other pair of judges had no criticism. For their second performance, they were given lyrical jazz to perform on stage. The judges had comments for Jessica, and Nigel enjoyed their performance the first. The others mentioned that Jessica might eventually hold Will back.
Comfort and Thayne - Dance 1: Cool by Bernstein and Sondheim | Dance 2: How Arek Sarer Jan by New Age Armenia
These two were formed as a couple after last week’s elimination, and they do not want to end up in the bottom three this week. Their first performance was a Broadway routine to a song from West Side Story. From the start, these two look like a perfect match, and the judges agreed. For the most part. Nigel was very harsh with his critique on their first routine. He effectively booed them off the stage. For their second performance, these two were given a slow waltz, and with this performance I was made even more positive that these two are a perfect match for each other. The first two judges didn’t have much to say, but they aren’t experts in this style of dance. Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe both had positive comments for Comfort and Thayne. Did they save themselves from the bottom three this week? We’ll see on Thursday’s show.
Kourtni and Matt - Dance 1: How Do I Breathe by Mario | Dance 2: Ban Con Tim by Super Allstar
These two have been my favorites from the beginning, but they have received some hard comments from the judges. Kourtni especially has had some harsh words from the judges. Tonight they first hit the stage with a hip hop routine. I liked it, but the judges had some comments immediately. The performance wasn’t strong enough to them. Second, they had to go in a total different direction with a mambo routine. The pair wasn’t thrilled with that selection, and I wasn’t thrilled by their performance. Neither were the judges. This might be trouble for these two. Bottom three anyone?
Chelsie and Mark - Dance 1: Kiss Kiss by Holly Vance | Dance 2: It’s My Life by Paul Anka
These two had an amazing performance last week. Definitely one of the best. Will they be able to top that this week. First up, they had a jazz performance, and these two are just getting better each and every week. The judges absolutely loved their first performance. Their second performance was a fox trot, which is in their style. The song choice amused me here because Paul Anka does Bon Jovi. Yes, folks. These two are just beautiful on stage together, even with stray feathers getting in the way. The judges just love these two. They might make it far in the competition.
Kherington and Twitch - Dance 1: Malaguena by Brian Setzer ‘68 Comeback Special | Dance 2: Dreaming With A Broken Heart by John Mayer
This is another couple I’ve enjoyed week after week. Twitch is proving he is more than just a hip hop dancer. This week they open up with a pasa doble. The judges liked the performance, but it was a slow beginning for some of them. For their second trip on stage, they have a contemporary routine from Mia Michaels. One word comes to my mind with this performance - wow. So powerful and passionate. I actually ended up a bit choked up by the end. That is power. I love the mind of Mia Michaels, and the judges loved this performance.
Katee and Joshua - Dance 1: Hometown Glory by Adele | Dance 2: Shake It by Brother Yusef
Another solid pair here week after week. These two hit the dance floor first this week with a contemporary routine from Mia Michaels, and they just amazed me with this performance. The judges also loved their performance. They next take the stage with a west coast swing performance choreographed by someone familiar to So You Think You Can Dance, season two contestant Benji Schwimmer. I love these two, but I enjoyed their first performance much more than their second.
Courtney and Gev - Dance 1: Lights, Camera, Action! by Mr Cheeks | Dance 2: New York, New York by Bernstein, Comden and Green
These two have chemistry and passion every time they hit the stage. This week they first take the stage with a hip hop routine. This week, one half of the couple was hitting this routine just a bit harder than the other. Courtney received some praise, and Gev didn’t. Their second routine of the night and the one that closed the show was a Broadway routine. This one was just fun to watch, and I could see them on Broadway with this. The judges loved them too, and Nigel called them the underdogs. Could these be the quiet ones that come in and win it all?
Which dancers were your favorites this week? Do you see some clear cut choices for the finale at this point in the competition. Right now, I think for me it is between Kherington and Twitch and Chelsie and Mark. These two are amazing week after week. Will they continue to do so? Only time will tell! Check back tomorrow for who is sent home this week on So You Think You Can Dance.

Thank you for leaving such a great comment! I was trying to pinpoint what was wrong with Matt and Kourtni and I think you have hit it right on the head. They are great apart, but not the best together. They have the technique but not the passion.

I totally agree about what you said. I really love Twitch and Kherington and I really hope they do well in the future. Although the judges seem to love Joshua and Katee I actually don’t see the same little spark that I see in Chelsea/Mark and Twitch/Kherington. I think it’s down to them also. My favourite performance so far in this whole season is the contemporary routine choreographed by Mia Michaels that was performed by Kherington and Twitch. There was that deep look Twitch had in his eye and Kherington with the petals. Not to mention that their talent skill affected their performance greatly. I thought it was amazing.
I think that you have stated all of the truthful facts about all of the couples. I do believe that Gev and Country G. have great chemistry together. If they keep this chemistry strong I believe they still have some time on this show. One couple that I do not really understand is Matt and Kourtni. I fully understand that they are both amazing dancers individually but they do not have that chemistry that other couples have when dancing.
The best couples from best to worst:
Twitch and Kherington
Chelsea and Mark
Katee and Joshua
Will and Jessica
Courtney and Gev
Comfort and Thayne
Matt and Kourtni
The best individual dancer from best to worst:
Twitch
Kherington
Will
Mark
Joshua
Katee
Chelsea
Courtney
Gev
Thayne
Jessica
Kourtni
Matt
Thank you for taking you time to read this.

I was really surprised that Thayne and Comfort did so well as a couple. I was concerned last week, since both had been in the bottom three before - you know, put two bottom three dancers together and what do you get? Apparently a decent couple!
