Ellen Does It Again
Last night in Los Angeles The Daytime Emmy Awards were handed out, and it is no surprise that talk show host Ellen Degeneres won for best talk show host. This is the fourth time the comedian has won the honor. However, best talk show went to Rachael Ray. Portia de Rossi was also in attendance last night at the awards, and the two shared a smooch before Ellen went on stage to accept her award. Backstage, Ellen was asked about their pending wedding, and a date has been set for the event. However, Ellen is keeping mum on just when that date will be. Plans are in the works, and Ellen did mention flying in Portia’s family from Australia for the event.
Awards were also handed out in the drama department, and CBS won a good many of these. General Hospital also won two awards last night - top drama and best actor for Anthony Geary. As for best younger actor, that award went to Tom Pelphrey for his role as Jonathan Randall on Guiding Light. This win was much deserved in my eyes after the performance Pelphrey put in this year before his exit from the series. Jeanne Cooper also won for best actress for her role as Katherine Chancellor on The Young & The Restless. Cooper has been nominated eight times, but this was the first win for the actress.
Guiding Light has made some changes this year. I don’t watch daily like I used to, but I do pop in from time to time. The series has headed outdoors for filming, and this is a first for daytime drama. Some have criticized the move, but it is ground breaking. Guiding Light is the longest running soap opera now entering its 71st year. What do you think of daytime television? Do you watch? Are you a talk show nut? Courtroom fan or a soap fanatic? Let me know!

Good for Ellen. I’m happy that she and Portia are still hanging on.
Good for them, I think they make a good couple.
I’m glad that Ellen and Portia are so happy. Ellen has broken barriers by standing by her convictions, and by remaining a strong viable entertainment commodity.
