Celebrity Today Movie Report for June 16
Hello out there. It is Monday morning, and that means it is time for my weekly look at the box office and new releases for the week ahead. Over the weekend, two movies battled it out for the top spot, and one movie came out clearly victorious. The Incredible Hulk came in with about $54.5 million in sales after an opening day on Friday with $21 million in sales. The Happening, the other release this weekend, earned approximately $30.5 million, which is a little over half of The Incredible Hulk’s earnings.
Coming to theaters this Friday, we have two new comedy motion pictures, Get Smart and The Love Guru. Mike Myers used his recent hosting job at the MTV Movie Awards as a promotional tool for the upcoming release that also stars new mother Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake. Time will tell just how well that worked for him.
Over on DVD, Semi-Pro starring Will Ferrell topped both the sales and rental charts in its first week of release. This week on DVD we have Fool’s Gold heading onto short shelves. This treasure hunt movie stars Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey Kate Hudson is still being seen at various locations with new flame, Lance Armstrong. In fact it is being said the two spent Father’s Day together with her young son Ryder. Matt is set to become a father himself soon.
As far as television series hitting DVD this week, we have the first season of Californication and the complete series of Jericho available on Tuesday. Another season ER also hits the shelves, the series’ ninth. This is just in time for the airing of the final season of ER to begin in the fall. Lastly, for music lovers we have the long awaited release of Coldplay’s latest album. Something for everyone. For a complete list of releases go after the jump.
