Rumors have been spreading that Madonna and Guy Ritchie are heading towards divorce. Both have been seen without their wedding rings, and they have been continents apart until just this weekend. Guy flew in to join Madonna in New York City, and yes it was noticed by US Weekly that he was not wearing his wedding ring.
However, Guy’s mom is now throwing her two cents in on the subject. She released a statement recently that totally denies all of the speculation about the marriage of her son and Madonna. Her statement says the following:
They are no different to most other couples and we all know that being together can be hard sometimes and marriages are not always a bed of roses…Madonna is in New York at the moment finishing off a tour and he will join her there after the weekend. That is not a couple splitting up. I’ll say it one more time, they are not getting divorced; the speculation is TT—that’s total tosh.
So are these two headed to divorceville, or it a case of a busy couple? Hard to tell with these two. I hope for the sake of the children, these two continue on happily!

Actresses Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz seem to have similar tastes in men. Jennifer is currently dating John Mayer, who is rumored to have dated Cameron Diaz in the not so distant past. Cameron is now dating Paul Sculfor, who dated Jennifer in the past. Rumors are now flying though because Cameron was caught by the paparazzi with a diamond on her finger. Now the engaged rumors are just running wild. Cameron Diaz ended a long relationship with Justin Timberlake a little over a year ago. Could she have found her man? As for Jennifer and Cameron, can we say boyfriend swap anyone?

Another week begins, and this means it is Monday morning, and it is time for my weekly look at the movies. With the July 4 holiday this week, things are a bit slow on the release side, but we still have things to tell you about. This week’s box office was a battle between Angelina Jolie and animation. It was a hard battle, but Disney’s Wall-E came out on top. Both movies went over $50 million in ticket sales, and this did set a new box office record.
In fact this weekend was one of the top money making in box office history. People went out to see both Wall-E and Wanted. Wanted, shown in less theaters, made approximately $51 million in sales, and Wall-E topped things with $62.5 million. Over on DVD, Fool’s Gold topped both the sales chart and the rentals chart in its first week of release. This release beat out the previous top seller, The Bucket List, which came in third place.
As for new releases this week, Hancock is heading into theaters finally. This movie has been hyped up, and last week the movie’s stars headed out and out to promote the movie. We saw them on everything from Letterman to TRL. Word has it this week that Will Smith might play Barack Obama in a movie. Obama chose Will himself to portray him in a movie on his life because they have similar ears. Will made a comment about this to MTV recently.
That’s the key. That’s the key. America loves ears, you know? Mickey Mouse started it; Goofy and Dumbo followed behind. And America just loves the ears.
HMM! Will as Obama? Honestly, I can see it. Will it happen? Only time will tell. In other release news, we have The Closer Third Season heading onto DVD just in time for the fourth season, and we also have Vantage Point and My Blueberry Nights heading to store shelves. Not much else of note, but for a full list of new releases for this week check after the jump.

Now that I’ve probably totally depressed you with my last post on here, let us talk about something happier. This past week, a number of celebrity couples of said their I do’s. Everyone from Ruben Studdard to Chris Kattan and tennis superstar Chris Evert. Love must be in the air. Everyone seems to be falling in love, showing their love and then making that big commitment of happily ever after.
Of course when it comes to Hollywood, happily ever after doesn’t mean that anymore. Even the happiest of couples end their marriages. There are very few that remain married for a long time, but I do know of a few. The ones that stay together the longest seem to be the ones that don’t buy into their celebrity and stay away from the Hollywood life as much as they possibly can. Whatever works best for them!
Congratulations to all the newly married couples. Hopefully you won’t decide to head down the divorce path like Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie seem to be doing this week!

This post is a little bit different. Following celebrity news as much as I do, there are some things that I see and they make me think. I’m sure we all have those things, and I usually just keep them to myself, but maybe I should start talking about them here. We’ll see how this goes. I think anyone can agree with me that we’ve lost a lot from Hollywood this year. It started in January with the deaths of actors Brad Renfro and Heath Ledger. Just yesterday, a young model jumped to her death in New York City. Last weekend, George Carlin left this world at the age of 71. There are countless others that have lost this world this year.
Last night, I was scrolling through the channels on my television. I wanted something to watch, and George Carlin had taken over HBO Comedy. Then I heard on my Twitter that Saturday Night Live was paying tribute to the comic by showing an episode he hosted from 1975. For some reason this made me start scratching my head a bit. Perhaps I haven’t noticed it, but George Carlin’s death seems to be getting a lot of attention this week. Many have died this year, and most of them have had their deaths mentioned and then everyone just seemed to move quickly on. Heath Ledger’s passing receives more attention now than immediately following his death.
Could that be because of the uncertainty surrounding the circumstances of his death? It could be. Hollywood is strange like that. People are fickle and one wrong step can make people go from loving someone to hating them in the next breath. The paparazzi follow the celebrities around and they report every single detail. Celebrities really aren’t perfect people. They might be on the screen or you might listen to them on the radio, but when it comes right down to it they are just people like you and me. Every single loss we’ve had this year is important to remember.

A new little feature I’m starting every weekend here. It might be Saturday, or it might pop up on Sunday. This is where I take a look back at the week that was and share with you some stories and sites that caught my eye. A quick little look.
- Over at Entertainment On Parade , we have news about a fire at the bar made famous in the Top Gun movie. You know the movie Tom made when he was still sane?
- Over at Single In L.A. , Haute takes a look at celebrity singles every week. This week her post on Michelle Rodriguez caught my eye!
- At Celebrity World , we learn that Lindsay Lohan might have a sister she knew nothing about!
- At The Gossip Queen , we have a list of celebrities and their real names.
- At Sizzling Popcorn , there is an interview with a Hollywood screenwriter.
- Popsugar has even more pictures of Kate Hudson smooching on new boyfriend Lance Armstrong. According to them nothing is going on. These pictures show otherwise!
- INF Daily has some pictures of Hugh Jackman relaxing with his kids at the beach in Saint Tropez. He just finished shooting Wolverine: Origins.
- Just Jared talks about a possible new water line David Beckham is thinking of doing. He looks great in the underwear ad too!
- TV Squad tells us that Heigl is staying on Grey’s Anatomy.
- For those wondering if Wanted is worth seeing, Cinematical, IMDB and The Movie Blog have reviews.

Matthew McConaughey has been in the news some lately. His latest Fool’s Gold is out on DVD, and he’s been out and about various places. Last week, he was the center of a beach brawl. He wasn’t involved, but he was the cause of it when a group of surfers tried to protect him from nosey paparazzi. Now, he has been robbed after a night out in Nicaragua. Apparently, he lost his flip flops, his cell phone and about $2,000 dollars in cash. He asked for help, and he was taken back to his hotel room drunk. Not even sure what he was doing in Nicaragua. It has me scratching my head.
Matthew is also helping out send off Bill Gates. News broke that Bill was stepping down from day to day operations at Microsoft. He still is the chairman, so he isn’t gone completely. A video has popped up on Microsoft’s website helping put some humor to Bill’s departure, and you can see him working out with McConaughey. Check out the video below!

Paris Hilton is learning the power of the blog lately as she tries to set the story straight about a recent incident reported in the media. She didn’t go on television and speak out about the story. She went straight to her blog. Yes, Paris Hilton has her own blog on Myspace.com with about 170,000 friends. I wonder how long it takes her to check in with all of them every day! The latest story talks about her going by a sale of puppies and demanding one for use on a recent photo shoot. This caused a bit of a stir, so she had to speak up and defend herself. In her blog, she lashes out at the media for the story.
I wasn’t looking for a new pet, I wasn’t even at a photo shoot that day, (I was down the street at Benji’s DCMA clothing store) and I actually have a Yorkie puppy. I love animals and the cruel things people say are not acceptable. Puppies are not accessories or toys and I love my own pets dearly–I treat them as if they were my children.
This just shows you the power of the blog. They keep popping up everywhere, and a lot of people are getting into blogging and following their favorites. Even celebrities are jumping into blogging. Paris here has her own blog, and I know Rosie O’Donnell has her own blog too. As the Internet grows, more and more people create blogs. I usually don’t pay much attention to Paris Hilton at all, but this time she got my eye. Good on her for trying to clear things up.

No, not the planet. That message would take a long time to get here. Earlier this week, the Saturn Awards were held in Los Angeles. These awards are for those in the Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror genres. Those genres have had a busy year, and this year’s winners are a mix of movies, television series and talents. Everyone from Lost to 300 is represented in this list of winners. Jennifer Love Hewitt won for her role in CBS’ Ghost Whisperer. Production has started up again on that series after the fire at the Universal backlot ravaged two of its exterior sets earlier this month.
The news now really isn’t the winners of the awards, but the information that has come out from behind the scenes. We have information about new movie ideas bouncing around at the moment. The ideas aren’t new ones though. Yes, this means more sequels. Word has it that we might see a Cloverfield 2, and either a prequel or sequel to 300 sometime in the near future. Zack Snyder won the award for best direction on Tuesday night.
We all know how I feel about the constant remakes and sequels. There are too many of them being made. Some movies you need to go the sequel route for. Twilight being one of them. It is a series of books. It is only fair that each book is made into a movie. The first is highly awaited and will be out in December. I don’t think we really need a second Cloverfield or another 300 though. That’s pushing it, but what do you think?
Check after the jump for the full list of winners for this week’s Saturn Awards.

On last night’s show we saw the top sixteen dance for America’s vote, and there were some hot performances, especially towards the end of the show. It is starting to become clear who is stepping their performances up and who needs some work still. This week, the judges have finally had to shake things up as far as the couples go. Their eliminations this week have broken up two couples and formed a new couple from that wreckage.
Tonight’s show started with a group performance choreographed by Mia Michaels. After the odd performance by the group, Cat got straight down to business with telling us who made the bottom three. First couple up is Chelsea and Thayne. Nigel told these two to get their solos ready last night, so it was no surprise that these two hit the bottom three. Next up were Katee and Joshua. They danced an amazing samba last night, and they were quickly sent away safe, as were Chelsie and Mark.
After a commercial break, we continued on and next safe were Twitch and Kherington. The next couple to hit the bottom three was not a surprise at all. Comfort and Chris have been there before, and the judges weren’t impressed with them last night. The last couple to make it to the bottom three were a bit of a surprise. Kourtni and Matt danced a different contemporary routine than we’re used to seeing. The judges loved them, and they were among my favorites. Nigel had some comments for these two before sending them off. He needs them to find more than just great technique.
After a special performance, we jump right into the solos. The bottom three couples need to dance for their lives with thirty second solos. This is where the dancers need to shine and impress the judges. The judges had a tough decision this week, and they finally had to do something they had been avoiding since the beginning. They broke up a couple by sending home Chelsea and Chris. This means next week Comfort will dance with Thayne. This week’s eliminations were no surprise to me at all. Were they to you? What do you think?
Songs:
Group - The Dance by Charlotte Martin
Special Performance - Chemical Calisthenics by Blackalicious
Chelsea - A Song For You by Donna Hathaway
Thayne - Always by Bon Jovi
Comfort - Just Fine by Mary J. Blige
Chris - After Tonight by Justin Nozuka
Kourtni - Fire Door by Ani DeFranco
Matt - I’m Yours by Jason Mraz
Jordin Sparks - One Step At A Time
